What Cloud Engineering contributes to Cardinal Health

Information Technology oversees the effective development, delivery, and operation of computing and information services. This function anticipates, plans, and delivers Information Technology solutions and strategies that enable operations and drive business value.

Cloud Engineering analyzes the financial, operational, and technical feasibility of adopting external cloud based IT software, platform and infrastructure services. This job family evaluates the costs and benefits of cloud, virtual private networks, dedicated housing, and in-house solutions and identifies portions of the organization’s IT infrastructure with the highest potential return for cloud deployment. Cloud Engineering also manages the implementation of cloud services and their integration with in-house applications and systems, coordinating with vendors and adhering to engineering best practices.

Qualifications

  • 4-8 years of experience, preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred.

  • Able to analyze and recommend on resource allocation based on capacity management and analysis on Cloud platforms.

  • Active participation on the projects, designing the technical solution and oversee the deployment process to align the implementation with the architecture proposed.

  • Create intermediate to advance scripting (Shell/Python/PowerShell) methods to enhance or automate certain tasks, within OS and outside platforms (GCP, AWS)

  • Able to propose enhancements and new set of tools, upgrades, and automations as tools for the environment on process-specific to general-process level.

  • Knows the intermediate concept of networking, firewall rulings and ports and how it impacts OS / platform performance.

  • Able to create Change control activities based off on the overall infrastructure availability and present to CCB.

  • Able to perform root cause analysis (RCA) and recommends permanent corrective actions based on the analysis.

  • Ability to create data-driven reports and analysis using tools provided within CAH and to provide next action items for leaning existing processes and resolving issues.

  • Able to evaluate (architecture, cost, technology) for Cloud and hybrid environments.

  • Experienced in ITIL v3 or v4 , ITSM based work environment.

  • Experienced in ServiceNow ticketing or ITSM systems.

Good to have or a plus.

  • Skilled in server OS Patching planning and execution.

  • Strong knowledge on administering patching tool. (Tanium)

  • Strong knowledge on Linux Administration

  • Strong knowledge of GCP and AWS architecture (SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS)

  • Strong knowledge of infrastructure maintenance and delivery within an enterprise environment.

  • Strong knowledge or concept on how the NFS and SMB

  • Strong knowledge of Cloud Storage, Kubernetes, and S3 Bucket (Security/Policies)

  • Knowledgeable on Windows Administration

  • Understands high-level to area-specific concepts and architecture of Cloud platforms. Knowledgeable on permission levels and how it provides accesses to individuals
