Summary Statement
We are looking for energetic Swim Team Coaches for our summer recreational swim program!
This position works during the summer season located at one of four Boise Parks and Recreation's outdoor pool facilities.
Coaches summer recreation swim teams
Creates practice plans for swimmers
Responsible for communication with swimmers, parents, and volunteers
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older
Must work a minimum of 20 hrs per week
Must be able to work mornings and evenings

Borah Pool
Fairmont Pool
Ivywild Pool
Natatorium Pool and Hydrotube
Essential Functions
Coaches individual swimmers on various styles and racing techniques. Creates practice plans for swimmers, meet entries, or other duties. Attends all swim meets including Championship meet. Responsible for communication with swimmers, parents, and volunteers. (100%)

Requirements
Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
Level of Knowledge
Knowledge of competitive swimming skills and techniques; swim meet rules and regulations.
Abilities
Ability to interact with the public and co-workers in a friendly and professional manner; display an attitude of cooperation and work harmoniously with all levels of city employees, the general public and other organizations; communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance; complete assignments in a timely fashion; understand and comply with all rules, policies and regulations; maintain prompt and regular attendance; perform all essential and marginal functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training
One year of experience coaching a swim program.
Current Lifeguard Certification.
American Red Cross First Aid and CPR certification.

Applicants must be able to pass:

Appointment to this position is contingent upon a negative pre-employment drug test.
This position is required to perform emergency medical, lifesaving, and/or fire suppression activities.

Physical Efforts
The noise level is frequently moderate. Work includes sensory ability to talk, hear and touch. Work in this position also includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Employees will stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach and grasp. Position requires hand/finger dexterity.
Working Environment
The work environment will include outdoor weather conditions, extreme temperatures, in wet and humid conditions, areas of dust, odors, mist and gases or other airborne matter. Work includes protected exposure to infectious bacteria, bodily fluids and chemicals.
This position works: Ability to work evenings and weekends
19-Hour Temporary
All temporary part-time employees working less than an average of 19-hours per week are not currently eligible for benefits.
4-Month Temporary
All 4-month temporary employees working an average of 40-hours per week will accrue personal leave which can be used during employment.
8-Month Seasonal
In addition to accruing personal leave, anyone in an 8-month seasonal position working over an average of 30-hours per week is eligible for medical coverage.
9-Month Temporary
In addition to personal leave accrual and medical coverage, a position that is classified as a 9-month temporary is eligible for PERSI retirement benefits.
