Our Opportunity Summary

The SSD System Architecture team is seeking a self-driven, highly motivated, and detail-oriented SSD Competitive Analysis Engineer. As part of the competitive analysis team, you will play a crucial role in gaining a deep understanding of competitor SSDs. Your findings feed innovation that will have a direct impact on Micron Enterprise and client SSD products.

What’s Encouraged Daily as our SSD Competitive Analysis Engineer

Performance Benchmark Automation

  • Develop, maintain, and execute automated benchmarking scripts for SSD performance evaluation.

  • Ensure the reliability and scalability of benchmarking infrastructure.

  • Support data placement into a database to enable analysis, reporting and data access for multiple teams.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate benchmarking requirements into our testing processes.

Performance Analysis and Reporting

  • Analyze SSD benchmark results, identifying strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement.

  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations to communicate findings to stakeholders.

  • Be an advocate test results to encourage constant improvement and to push best in class SSDs.

Platform Definition and Testing

  • Keep abreast of the latest PC and Server chipsets.

  • Collaborate with other teams to define new testing platforms using these chipsets.

Metrics Alignment

  • Work closely with other organizations to understand the key metrics relevant to Micron products and our customers.

  • Align our testing and analysis with these critical metrics.

Competitive Analysis

  • Collaborate with our business unit to understand our competitors and trends in the industry.

  • Manage end to end purchasing, testing, and reporting performance of competitive drives to understand Micron's competitive position.

  • Support other team members work in SSD characteristics such as host traffic, workload analysis, power consumption, thermal characteristics, and NAND algorithms.

How to Qualify

5-8+ years of experience

BSEE or BSCS

Strong Understanding of SSDs and Performance Benchmarking

  • In-depth knowledge of SSD architecture, performance metrics, and industry benchmarks.

  • Experience with benchmarking tools and methodologies.

Computer Systems

  • PC and Server hardware, chipsets, and system configurations.

  • Hardware optimization to maximize performance.

Effective Communication Skills

  • Ability to articulate complex technical information clearly.

  • Proficiency with MS Office tools and other visualization tools for documentation and reporting.

  • Desire to provide excellent documentation in Confluence.

Programming Skills

  • Proficient in Python, batch scripting, and BASH.

  • Understanding of database usage and JSON creation is desirable.

  • Adaptability to learn new languages and methods.

  • Experience with data analysis tools (such as pandas, Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
