The Idaho Department of Water Resources (IDWR) has an exciting opportunity for a natural resource professional who wants to impact Idaho water issues.
IDWR is filling a vacancy for a Project Manager 1 in our State Office in Boise, ID. The person in this position will oversee Hydrology Section projects and programs and support the Idaho Water Resource Board (IWRB). This is a unique opportunity to combine program development, project management, and technical skills to oversee various projects to characterize Idaho’s aquifers and ensure water sustainability for current needs and future economic growth.
Salary: $37.00 - $38.00
Example of Duties
Hydrology Section initiatives cover a wide range of topics and fields of study. Potential duties include:
Project and program management including the assembly and coordination of teams to scope and implement assigned tasks; all aspects of project tracking (performance, progress, and budget); communication of status and results including development of informational materials, written correspondence, website content, reports, and presentations
Being part of a team consisting of internal staff, multiple government agencies, stakeholders, and/or other project partners to solve problems and accomplish specific goals or tasks
Assist with a variety of projects and programs throughout the State including aquifer monitoring, basin characterization, model development, and IWRB initiatives
Developing and monitoring contracts
May interact directly with executive leadership and the IWRB to provide project updates, convey technical options and opportunities, and report progress to stakeholders, the public, and government officials
Coordinate or assist in the coordination of internal and external meetings associated with IDWR and IWRB programs, projects, and initiatives
Represent IDWR and the IWRB at various meetings
Minimum Qualifications
Experience planning and implementing projects including coordinating the development of project goals, work plans, timelines, implementation strategies, and measurement processes/methods for assessing progress toward goals and project outcomes
Experience developing and monitoring contracts and program/project budgets
Experience interpreting, explaining, and presenting specialized or complex technical material into information usable by the public
Desired Qualifications
Good knowledge of water projects, water rights, and/or water law, preferably in the State of Idaho
Good knowledge of project management principles and project management software
Experience working with stakeholders including the planning, coordination, and facilitation of meetings
Experience analyzing, interpreting, and applying federal, state, and local laws when applying engineering, hydrologic, geologic, or hydrogeologic principles
Principles, theories, and practices of groundwater hydrology or hydrogeology including those pertaining to groundwater flow
