This is a hybrid position. This experienced pharmacy tech could work remotely three days a week.

GENERAL SUMMARY AND PURPOSE:

The Saint Alphonsus Clinically Integrated Network - The Alliance - seeks a Pharmacy Technician who has exceptional patient service skills. The Pharmacy Technician is an integral member of the SAMG Population Health team and will work closely with the Pharmacist to execute strategies for medication compliance working closely with the pharmacist to improve outcomes.

The Pharmacy Technician will assist the Pharmacist in monitoring and educating patients on medication adherence and disease management to ensure their health goals are met. The primary goal of this role is to enhance performance on measures related to medication adherence in specific areas of diabetes, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia. Performance will be tracked monthly, quarterly, and yearly by Medicare STAR quality ratings. The Pharmacy Technician is also responsible for gathering information from medical records, excel spreadsheets, and other technology-based systems to support quality measure performance.

Skills, Knowledge, Education, and Experience Required:

Current and Valid Idaho Board of Pharmacy Technician licensure in good standing

Excellent verbal and listening skills on the phone. Capable of communicating prescription authorizations to pharmacists/medical staffs/pharmacies.

Ability to utilize Excel and other Microsoft programs.

Able to use pharmacy information and gather patient data on EPIC EMR (or willing to train / learn efficiently).

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and collaborative working relationships with pharmacists, providers, nurses, and other clinical staffs.

Skill in working independently and following through with minimum direction

Ability to set priorities which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities.

Demonstrate writing skills to compose logical, detailed and grammatically correct correspondence via electronically

Knowledge of efficient interviewing practices and techniques used in order to gather information from patients

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with patients and medical staffs. Excellent general customer service skills

Knowledge of medical records and appropriate documentation requirements

Ability to remain calm and be resourceful over the phone. Ability to maintain a professional demeanor at all times.

Preferred Experience:

Prior experience in Medication Adherence Programs.

Experience with EPIC EMR functionality. Strong telephonic communication skills

1 year experience preferred as a pharmacy technician.

National Certification (CPhT, ExCPT or equivalent) preferred with under 3 years’ experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions. Assists the pharmacist in preparing prescriptions, which includes various material resource management, dispensing, clerical, and billing duties.

Revenue management: ensures the accuracy of documenting services and supplies provided to the patients. Participates in quality assurance and continuous quality improvement activities . Understands the limitations to performing certain responsibilities of a registered technician in dispensing medications and remains within the scope of practice. Transports medications to patient rooms or nursing medication rooms.

Retrieves unused medications from patient rooms or nursing areas. Excellent communication skills. Ability to create and foster a cooperative teamwork environment. Able to readily adapt to institutional roles and schedules.
