The Global Technology Development Engineering Process Hazard Analysis Team (PHA) is looking for an intern who can support Process Safety related activities for our R&D Fab. Job responsibilities will include identifying risks associated with existing and First of a Kind (FOAK) chemistries and tool sets; use of a flammability calculator; support for our exhaust sampling program; evaluation of gas ratios and temperatures for the efficiency of abatement systems. As a PHA engineer intern at Micron Technology, Inc., you will gain exposure to new chemistry and equipment evaluations relevant to the Semiconductor industry. You work with a team of process development-, safety-, environmental-, and facility engineers in a variety of initiatives targeted at identifying, mitigating, and managing risk at our pioneering RnD Fab in Boise. The PHA intern will be encouraged to deliver tasks on schedule and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team throughout the site and organization to achieve an outstanding process safety environment.

Requirements

  • Good understanding of chemistry, chemical reactions, and chemical reaction kinetics

  • Basic proficiency in reading and interpreting schematic drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID’s) or similar technical renderings

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Basic knowledge in Python

Our basic expectations are:

  • Participate in process safety projects or program initiatives

  • Integrity, positivity, and a strong desire to learn

  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced, team environment

  • Completion of all work within established timelines/parameters

  • Attend Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) for selected systems as vital/directed

  • Support collection of Process Safety Information (PSI) documentation

  • Engage with other Micron team members to track closure of PHA action items and timelines

  • Support engineering teams through process safety evaluations for FOAK equipment

  • Present to senior-level staff at the conclusion of the internship

Education:

  • Pursuing BS, MS, or PhD degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science or a related area
