Jail Cleaning Coordinator

Join the Ada County Sheriff’s Office as the Jail Cleaning Coordinator (JCC), where you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the Ada County Jail. The JCC orchestrates a comprehensive cleaning program, overseeing inmate workers, and ensuring the facility remains spotless and secure.

Essential Functions

  • Tool & Supply Management: Keep meticulous records of tools and supplies, ensuring nothing is lost or misused.

  • Inspection & Safety: Regularly inspect all areas to guarantee they meet cleanliness and safety standards.

  • Supervision & Training: Lead and train inmate workers, ensuring they understand and follow cleaning protocols.

  • Night Operations: Occasionally work nights to complete tasks that can't be done during the day.

  • Expertise in Cleaning: Apply your knowledge of commercial cleaning and maintenance to tackle various tasks, from floor scrubbing to high dusting.

  • Coordination: Work closely with command staff to schedule and execute cleaning projects safely.

  • Communication: Maintain open lines of communication with housing deputies about inmate behavior and work performance.

  • Issue Resolution: Address and resolve Inmate Request Forms (IRF) and grievances related to cleaning duties.

  • Supply Management: Ensure supply closets are well-stocked and monitor inventory levels.

  • Movement Monitoring: Oversee inmate worker movements to align with jail protocols.

  • Quality Assurance: Ensure cleaning tasks are performed correctly and safely.

  • Equipment Management: Submit work orders and coordinate vendor repairs for equipment maintenance.

  • Chemical Program Oversight: Manage the jail chemical program to maintain effective cleaning solutions.

  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work with County Operations on projects and cross-train with Warehouse staff.

  • Custodial Duties: Step in to perform custodial tasks when needed.

  • SDS Maintenance: Keep Safety Data Sheets (SDS) binders up-to-date across the facility.

  • Contract Management: Review and ensure accountability of contract cleaners' work.

  • Opportunity Utilization: Identify and seize opportunities for deep cleaning and painting in unoccupied areas.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Supervisory experience preferred

  • Extensive knowledge of custodial practices and heavy-duty cleaning methods

  • Strong administrative and leadership skills

  • Familiarity with safety practices and infection control

  • Ability to train, supervise, and motivate a diverse group of inmate workers

  • Excellent conflict resolution and communication skills

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of an oral board, polygraph, and background check

  • This safety-sensitive position requires random drug testing

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Work indoors with exposure to various environmental conditions

  • Physical tasks include climbing, bending, stooping, lifting up to 60 pounds, and continuous walking and standing
