Summary:

The Idaho Department of Correction (IDOC) is currently accepting applications for a Public Information Officer. This position will focus on public relations and will manage the department’s strategic communications with internal and external stakeholders. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in media relations.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the director's office and the strategic initiatives office to establish public relations campaigns that showcase IDOC staff and justice-involved persons.

  • Create or edit brochures, newsletters, videos, etc. to proactively communicate IDOC's story.

  • Identify and capture key information related to the agency's strategic projects to share with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Respond to media inquiries and develop news releases.

  • Initiate and maintain a wide variety of media contracts and projects.

  • Create and manage intranet and social media content that supports agency's vision.

  • Develop talking points to help facilitate change management in high-priority initiatives.

  • Monitor social media platforms for public reaction to IDOC policy and program decisions.

  • Consult with and advise IDOC leadership on media, publication, and public relations matters.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience creating strategic communications materials for large-scale projects.

  • Experience managing social medial platforms for professional purposes.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience interacting with media and writing materials for public consumption.

  • Good interpersonal communication and writing skills.
