Summary Statement

Idaho Ice World features two NHL Regulation-Sized Ice Rinks accommodating to all hockey, figure skating, and public skating programs. Both rinks are equipped with custom scoreboards and time clocks visible from the ice as well as the stands.

Hockey Official-Scorekeeper:

  • Accurately maintains scores and statistics for league hockey games.

  • Acts as an off-ice official.

  • Open to all interested persons 16 years of age and older.

  • Games last up to 90 minutes and are typically year-round, evenings, and weekends.

  • This position is designated as At-Will.

Essential Functions

Operates time clocks and score boards for hockey games. Maintains records of goals, assists, penalties, shots on net, and related items as required. (60%)

Acts as an Off-Ice Official as described by USA Hockey Rule Book. (40%)

Performs other duties as assigned. Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this position at any time. Total Percentage = 100%

Requirements

Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training

Six months experience playing or coaching league hockey games, or related experience.

Working knowledge of rules and regulations described in the USA Hockey Rule Book; basic math and statistics.

Ability to record scores and related statistics; interpret and apply various rules and regulations; maintain good relations with coaches, parents, and players; display an attitude of cooperation and work harmoniously with all levels of City employees, the general public and other organizations; communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance; complete assignments in a timely fashion; understand and comply with all rules, policies and regulations; maintain prompt and regular attendance; and perform all essential and marginal functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training

One year experience coaching league hockey.

Applicants must be able to pass:

City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation

Physical Efforts

While performing the duties of this job the employee is rarely lifting/carrying up to 20 pounds. Also, the employee is rarely pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds. The noise level is always moderate and frequently loud. Work includes sensory ability to talk, hear and touch. Work in this position also includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Employees will sit. Position requires hand/finger dexterity.

Working Environment

The work environment will include inside conditions, outdoor weather conditions and extreme temperatures.

This position works: evenings and weekends on a regular basis.

19-Hour Temporary

All temporary part-time employees working less than an average of 19-hours per week are not currently eligible for benefits.

4-Month Temporary

All 4-month temporary employees working an average of 40-hours per week will accrue personal leave which can be used during employment.

8-Month Seasonal

In addition to accruing personal leave, anyone in an 8-month seasonal position working over an average of 30-hours per week is eligible for medical coverage.

9-Month Temporary

In addition to personal leave accrual and medical coverage, a position that is classified as a 9-month temporary is eligible for PERSI retirement benefits.
