Civil Engineer-In-Training

Are you looking for an opportunity to expand your knowledge, grow your skills, and put your career on a path to success? As a Civil Engineer in Training at POWER Engineers you will have the opportunity to work on projects that will challenge you and help you reach your goals. You will receive the guidance, mentorship, and training you need to excel in your career.

In this role, you’ll have the chance to make a positive impact on the environment, and participate in a range of diverse and unique initiatives, all while working with a great team of people who encourage new ideas and innovative approaches.

Our Facilities Division seeks an entry level Civil Engineer-In-Training to join our team. Our group specializes in high-performing projects with a focus on the future in food and beverage, Federal projects, and industrial facility design. Our goal is to deliver excellent projects hand-in-hand with a positive experience for our clients and our communities alike. You’ll be asked to help with grading and drainage design for new building sites, remodels, and additions as well as provide utility delivery, access road design, permitting and construction support.

Here are a few things you can expect:

  • A major component of our design process relies on terrain modeling software. In particular, the use of AutoCAD Civil3D is one of the integrated collaboration tools used in communicating 3-D design to our project teams, owners and construction professionals

  • There is a lot of latitude for decision making; we're not interested in micro-managing

  • We expect everyone on the team to assume ownership of the project's goals and success

  • When it comes to quality, we don't joke around. Each and every project goes through a thorough QA/QC process. You will not simply be drawing lines and doing math, but will be expected to be self-motivated to deliver your best so as not to disappoint our clients-or your team members

  • Compensation for this role is a combination of salary and a bonus structure based on your performance

Required Education/Experience

  • BSCE (Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering) degree from an accredited university

  • Candidate should have 0-2 years of experience and be able to perform work requiring independent judgement, adaptation/modification of engineering principles, procedures, and code requirements

  • EIT license required

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel

  • Must be effective in prioritizing and setting deadlines, while also adapting to change

  • Must be adaptable, able to problem solve, and able to learn and apply new technologies with support

  • The candidate must have a strong command of the English language with good oral and written communication skills in order to work effectively

  • Demonstrated ability to self-manage and produce results

  • Ability to maintain and develop relationships with both existing and potential clients and recognize their needs, respond to and build on responsibilities accordingly

Ideal candidate will also have:

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil3D or Microstation Inroads

  • Ideal coursework includes hydrology, fluid mechanics, soil mechanics, foundational design and surveying

  • Previous internship or drafting work experience related to civil and/or civil engineering
