Summary Statement
Reopened to new applicants! The Boise Airport is currently accepting applications for the newly created position of Floor Technician. The Airport Floor Technician specializes in the operation of floor cleaning equipment to maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of airport facilities as part of the floor technician team. This position works under general supervision.

Essential Functions
Operates and maintains a variety of floor cleaning equipment, such as industrial scrubbers, polishers and vacuums, ensuring they are in optimal working condition.
Performs routine inspections, troubleshoots issues and coordinates repairs with maintenance personnel as needed.
Executes thorough cleaning of airport floors, including but not limited to terminals, hallways, restrooms and public areas, utilizing specialized equipment.
Addresses spills, stains and other cleanliness concerns promptly and efficiently.
Works collaboratively with the custodial team to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive approach to airport cleanliness.
Coordinates with colleagues to schedule and prioritize floor cleaning activities to minimize disruptions to airport operations.
Maintains accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance activities and inventory of cleaning supplies.
Provides regular reports on floor cleaning activities, highlighting achievements and areas for improvement.
Performs all duties of a custodian, in addition to providing team support and training. Performs both routine and more complex tasks, and assists others as required.

Requirements
Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
High school diploma or equivalent, and
2 years of experience working in the custodial field, and
Working knowledge of common custodial practices and cleaning products and supplies
Individuals must be capable of operating vehicles safely and have an acceptable driving record
Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) certified
Level of Knowledge:
The operation of various floor-cleaning equipment
General cleaning procedures
Airport security protocol
Mixing rules and regulations of cleaning chemicals and solutions
Airfield driving protocol
Ability To:
Troubleshoot and address equipment issues
Operate power tools and equipment, such as floor scrubbers, carpet extractors, side-by-side buffers and lifts
Drive airport vehicles at night
Identify safety and security hazards
Communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance
Perform all essential functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training
- Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) certified.
Licensing And Other Requirements
Complete Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Certifications for 100 & 700 Courses within six months
Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Certification
Valid state-issued driver's license.
Airfield Driving Certification

City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation
Driving Record Check
Transportation Security Administration background check (SIDA)

Physical Efforts
While performing the duties of this job the employee is always lifting/carrying up to 35 pounds and occasionally lifting/carrying up to 100 pounds. Also, the employee is always pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds, frequently pushing/pulling up to 35 pounds and occasionally pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds. The noise level is occasionally moderate. Work includes sensory ability to talk, hear and touch. Work in this position also includes close vision and distance vision. Employees will sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, grasp, climb and balance. Position requires hand/finger dexterity.
Working Environment
The work environment will include inside conditions, outdoor weather conditions, extreme temperatures, areas of dust, odors, mist and gases or other airborne matter. Employees are exposed to mechanical hazards and work in/at heights. Employees will also drive a vehicle as part of this position. Work includes protected exposure to infectious bacteria, bodily fluids and chemicals.
