Position Summary:

The Industrial Performance Engineer will be responsible for identifying and driving operational improvement and cost savings projects. Continuous improvement efforts will focus on making sustainable gains in reliability, quality, safety, cost, and delivery. Methods for achieving and sustaining improvements will be based Nestle Continuous Excellence and TPM fundamentals. The team member will need to collaborate closely with Operations and other internal partners to achieve the project objectives aligned with the NHS business needs. The team member will be responsible to carry out assignments of a broad nature while exercising considerable judgment and creativity. The team member needs to be able to carry out appropriate financial analysis to validate/support proposals and gain support of key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure reliable Lines Performance measurements

  • Analyze KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators); define the road map of improvements needed; implement changes and follow-up on results by involving key responsible people (i.e. sponsor, process owner, operator).

  • Drive continuous improvement and productivity savings projects. Utilize Nestle Continuous Excellence tools and methodologies (Goal Alignment, GSTD, DMAIC, Loss Tree Analysis, IPA, etc.) to drive sustainable operational improvements.

  • Responsible for identifying, chartering, and leading significant improvement initiatives - delivering the project results on time.

  • Provide updates to NHS leadership team and Factory team highlighting the current status, adherence to the project time plan, work accomplished, quick wins, points of escalation, elements of risk and the associated mitigation plans.

  • Develop key skills to drive improvement.

Line Analysis:

  • Routine review of line measurements / bottlenecks

  • Creation and maintenance of line diagrams with machine rates

  • Evaluation of downtime improvement opportunities

  • As needed, review and revise measurement concepts for production lines

  • Assist production with line studies and analysis as needed

  • Routine Review of Line Performances and KPIs

Training and GI Education:

  • Maintain annual training on basic performance concepts and provide additional coaching as needed

  • Maintain SOPs/Work Instructions for DMO tracking and IP functions

  • Prepare training materials that are specific to each line

  • Educate new operators and supervisors on the basic GI concepts and role of DMO

M achine and Labor Standards:

  • Generate and analyze the critical information to prepare for line reviews

  • Facilitate periodic reviews of line standards for all production areas

  • Update/maintain machine standards documents

Safety and Environmental:

  • Follow factory safety & environmental objectives & targets

  • Follow the plant safety rules; report incidents & unsafe conditions immediately

  • Maintain compliance with regulations, and refer to the Safety & Environmental Management System(s) on all related procedures and programs.

Quality:

  • Follow factory food safety, quality objectives & targets

  • Follow Nestle Good Manufacturing Practices, report food safety and quality issues immediately.

  • Maintain compliance with regulations and refer to Nestle Quality Management System on all related procedures and programs.

  • Understand the food safety and quality aspects of the position as indicated on QMS, OJT's and SOP's that apply.

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering, Engineering or Business

  • 1-3+ years of experience working in a manufacturing/production environment, preferably in a food manufacturing environment

  • Manufacturing Excellence experience with examples of application and results (Preferred)

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Working knowledge of TPM

  • Professional maturity, appearance, and demeanor

  • Ability to work flexible hours

The approximate pay range for this position is $80,000 to $95,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
