Purpose

Contributes to the overall success ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Accountabilities

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

  • Perform infrastructure applications tools to ensure operational risk to prevent service outages and monetary impact to the bank.

  • Play a vital role in system recovery; expedient service restoration; scheduled maintenance on weekends and as well, data security & code promotions activities.

  • Provide technical support to various user groups and/or acts as a liaison between various competing interests in the timely processing and completion of high-profile project implementations.

  • Exceed user expectations pertaining to the delivery of critical processing through the provision of first-line technical support activities.

  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Education / Experience

  • Excellent communication (verbal & written) skills to ensure incidents/problems are understood and documented accordingly. - Must

  • 6 months of hands-on technical working experience in an IT operations-based environment such as IBM’s Robot console (formerly known as AS/400 or i5/OS). - Must

  • Knowledge of monitoring tools like IBM’s and ServiceNow - Must

  • Experience in the use of vendor applications such as Document Communication Management, Post Edge and Host OnDemand – Nice to have

  • You can function in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. – Nice to have

  • Adaptability to change process/procedure to accommodate our customers while focusing on risk mitigation and customer service. – Nice to have

  • Project management skills and experience to write business case for projects – Nice to have

  • Experience using Oracle People Soft for invoice processing – Nice to have

  • Organization and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple problems from simple to complex concurrently.

  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Systems, or in a related field. – Nice to have
