Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the GWRT / MM Technology in Canada and globally ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Accountabilities

• Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

• Responsible for sizing the JIRA tickets and providing estimates on efforts

• Code Review / Peer Review to ensure the quality of the code and development of junior developers

• Manage the development life cycle and insure delivery dates

• Continuously Research and Learn new technologies and development methodologies that help enhance our development procedures and quality of the products developed

• Hands on development for needed features and functionalities.

• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

• Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Education / Experience / Relevant Information

Must have

• A bachelor's degree or a certificate in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

• At least 2 years of experience working with Python.

• Experience working with Pandas.

• Open to learning, curious and proactive.

• Advanced level of English (B2).

• Nice to have: Experience working with Bash Scripts, Java, Nifi, Kafka, Google Cloud Storage, react, Angular.
