FirstService Residential Communications Manager in Bodega Bay, California

Job Overview:

The Communications Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of communication strategies for the property including golf, food & beverage, and the HOA. Bodega Harbour is a homeowners’ association and member happiness is a primary goal of all staff. This is a collaborative position working with the Associations department heads, staff and outsourced contractors. This position is a highly skilled role requiring the knowledge and execution of current digital marketing and communications tools and platforms, and the ability to assess and strategize ways to bolster communications between the Board, Association membership, customers, and Management.

The ideal candidate routinely exercises good judgment, has great interpersonal and leadership skills, is an excellent communicator and possesses exceptional problem-solving skills. As the face of the communications for the HOA, this individual must maintain positivity and diplomacy in a fast-paced environment with direct and indirect Resident communication. The Communications manager is responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day communication requirements of the community.

The Communications Manager works in compliance with FirstService standards and authentically delivering the Bodega Harbour HOA a positive Lifestyle environment.

Compensation: $30 - $35 an hour

FirstService Residential will compensate the successful candidate in accordance with the posted range. The salary or wage paid to the successful candidate will be commensurate with experience, education, and specific job responsibilities. For positions designated at a client's property, the salary or wage will also be premised upon the client's directive. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Be the FirstService Leader on site and report to the General Manager on site, while liaising and communicate with Department Heads.
  • Develop and implement internal marketing & communication plans and campaigns to promote all property programming, events, general updates, etc. for all departments (golf, F&B, HOA) through the use of digital channels, email, social media, print ads and collaterals.
  • Support and promote new and existing creative internal events. Grow participation in events through various marketing strategies on all channels and communicate with members and property staff to help ensure coordination of activities during all phases of events.
  • Maintain and update all websites including design, content, media and SEO optimization, work with outside agencies/ partners as needed.
  • Reputation management – actively monitor and engage in customer reviews in all digital spaces – Member Surveys, Yelp, Google, social media, etc. Work with department heads to insure timely follow-up with service recoveries.
  • Monitor and track results of communication efforts and marketing campaigns to understand if they are successful, recommend revised action plans to achieve goals.
  • Collaborate with Management, other departments and the HOA Board to develop and implement an effective communications strategy based on our target audience, members, and HOA needs/goals.
  • Write, edit, and distribute content, including publications, press releases, website content, annual reports, speeches, emails and other marketing material that communicates the organization's activities, products and/or services.
  • Proficiency in website design and management software.
  • Support all departments in creating flyers, menus and other collaterals needed.
  • Publish HOA monthly newsletter and manage newsletter advertisers and advertising content.
  • Maintain and update the Office telephone communication system.
  • Create and run member and other surveys as needed. Provide reports and analysis of the data.

Daily Operations and Resident Experience:

  • Help create S.O.P.’s for the success of the communication department.
  • Help create and maintain Policies and Procedures.
  • Champion the wedding and special event space marketing.
  • Support Lifestyle with promotions, ideas, and resident driven programming.
  • Create an “I Love My Job” environment that further enlivens the Bodega Harbour HOA Lifestyle.
  • Ensure proper response and handling of all community emergencies through training with staff, residents, buildings, etc. within company guidelines to minimize liabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with all company, local, state and federal rules.
  • Contribute positively to the Lifestyle, Brand Culture and Resident Experience

Education & Experience:

  • High school graduate
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated success incommunications, customer service, and digital marketing development and execution including social media, email, website, and other communication platforms.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and use of design programs, and digital marketing/communication platforms. (Instagram, Trip Advisor, Facebook, Yelp, Termly, Confluence, Drop box, survey monkey, Canva, GoDaddy)
  • Experience with managing customer databases.
