The ODP Corporation Sr. Industrial Engineer - Design & Construction (Remote*) in Boca Raton, Florida

Overview

The Sr. Industrial Engineer will drive process engineering, building design/re-design/re-configuration, and standardization across our Distribution, Fulfillment and Transportation network. This individual will be responsible for leading larger and more complex projects for designing and optimizing the network, enabling operations processes to meet safety, customer experience, quality, and cost goals.

Responsibilities will include creating and maintaining optimal drawings of material handling equipment, work areas, and storage equipment as well as design support for future initiatives. Drawings will require a high level of detail in both plan views as well as corresponding elevation views. Focus areas include improving efficiencies in facilities and establishing methods for maximum utilization. This role requires a deep understanding of optimizing systems to increase productivity, reduce costs, and improve quality.

To be considered candidates MUST have industrial engineering experience within supply chain warehouse design and construction.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of existing operational processes and logistics systems to identify value engineering opportunities and optimization. Identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements to enhance productivity and reduce costs.

  • Develop design and analytical models (excel, simulation etc.) to show feasibility and operational cost of design.

  • Lead and actively participate in design development with an aim to articulate operational and safety criteria in design development.

  • Collaborate with various stakeholders (e.g., warehouse managers, associates, IT, etc.) on the criteria for design and expansion and ensure solutions are tailored to meet business objectives and integrated seamlessly into operations.

  • Ability to easily communicate, present and write technical documents/drawings

  • Assist in the planning of warehouse layout and space utilization to ensure effective product flow and order fulfillment.

  • Conduct time and motion studies to optimize labor utilization and reduce bottlenecks.

  • Project manage and communicate project with all stakeholders via project management tools.

  • Mentoring and guiding junior engineers.

  • Remote: While this position does not currently require relocation, candidates within a radius of Boca Raton Headquarters will be required to work in the office a minimum of three days a week.

  • The role will also require 25-50% travel

Education and Experience:

  • Level of Formal Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • Area of Study: A Bachelor's degree in Industrial engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field of Industrial & Factory planning experience

  • Minimum Years of Experience: 6

  • Type of Experience:

  • Engineering experience in industrial, logistics, distribution, fulfillment, manufacturing, architectural, robotics, production environment

  • Experience in solution optimization, value engineering, best fit analysis (design and data), process development

  • Design and build systems to solve complex problems in existing or new areas.

  • Ability to perform Process Capability Analysis, Time Studies, Line balancing.

  • Experience in layout design in manufacturing and warehousing.

  • Excellent project management skills, with experience leading cross-functional teams

  • Skills & Abilities:

  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to generate high-quality, cost-effective solutions in very short periods of time

  • Manage multiple projects and tasks while effectively influencing, negotiating, and communicating with internal and external business partners, contractors and vendors.

  • Language Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills

*Remote: While this position does not currently require relocation, candidates within a radius of our locations in Boca Raton, FL will be required to work in the office a minimum of two to three days a week.
