DESCRIPTION OF WORK In the role of a Mechanic Intern, your responsibilities will include providing support in conducting routine maintenance and repairs on cars and light trucks. This will involve tasks such as oil and tire changes, brake inspections and replacements, suspension inspections and repairs, as well as diagnosing and repairing air conditioning systems. Additionally, you will be responsible for documenting repairs, completing work orders and computer diagnostics, and assisting in the maintenance of tools and equipment.

All Department policies and procedures will be followed. You will work with assigned mechanic(s) and learn the skills necessary to master the competencies listed above. You are expected to listen and ask questions to the assigned mechanic so that the program is a success for the student and the organization.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Schedule will vary based on agreement between high school and COPA location. This internship may begin summer 2024 and continue into 2024/2025 school year. Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.   REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Internship Requirements: You must be at least 16 years of age. You must be a junior or senior enrolled in high school during the 2024 - 2025 school year.

Additional Requirements:

Work Permit: Minors will be required to submit their Work Permit upon acceptance of this position. By participating in this program, the student and school agree to use the Commonwealth's Training Plan, Statement of Responsibilities, and Student Performance Evaluation. Forms will be provided to the student upon acceptance of this position. Letter of Recommendation: You must attach a Letter of Recommendation from your school's co-op coordinator, career or guidance counselor, or similar designated school professional indicating you meet your school's requirements and are being recommended for this opportunity. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
