ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director of IT Infrastructure is responsible for leading and managing the company's IT infrastructure operations, ensuring the availability, reliability, and scalability of all IT systems. This role involves strategic planning, leadership, and execution of initiatives to maintain and improve the company’s technology infrastructure in alignment with business objectives. This role offers a hybrid work schedule of three days in-person at our Bloomington, MN office and two days remote weekly.
Leadership and Strategy:
- Develop and implement the IT infrastructure strategy, aligning with the company’s overall IT and business strategies.
Lead, mentor, and manage the IT infrastructure team, including network engineers, system administrators, and other IT staff.
Establish and enforce IT infrastructure policies, procedures, and standards.
Infrastructure Management:
Oversee the management, maintenance, and optimization of data centers, networks, servers, storage systems, and other IT infrastructure components.
Ensure high availability, performance, and security of all IT infrastructure systems.
Manage disaster recovery and business continuity planning for IT infrastructure.
Project Management:
Plan, prioritize, and manage IT infrastructure projects, ensuring on-time delivery and within budget.
Collaborate with other departments to understand their infrastructure needs and develop solutions.
Oversee the implementation of new technologies and systems, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
Security and Compliance:
Ensure IT infrastructure complies with relevant security standards and regulatory requirements.
Implement and maintain cybersecurity measures to protect the organization’s data and systems.
Conduct regular risk assessments and audits of IT infrastructure.
Vendor and Budget Management:
- Manage relationships with IT vendors, service providers, and consultants.
Negotiate contracts and service level agreements (SLAs) with vendors.
Develop and manage the IT infrastructure budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends.
Evaluate and recommend new technologies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of IT infrastructure.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance IT infrastructure performance and reliability.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Alternatively, a combination of relevant education, certifications, and significant work experience may be considered.
10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure management, with at least 7 years in a leadership role. Candidates with equivalent work experience in lieu of a degree may also be considered.
Strong knowledge of networking, server management, cloud computing, virtualization, and cybersecurity.
Experience with disaster recovery planning and business continuity.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Strong problem-solving abilities and a strategic mindset.
Role is based in our Bloomington, MN headquarters with a weekly hybrid work schedule of 3 days in office and 2 days remote. On-call availability for emergency situations as needed.
Able to occasionally travel to other company locations, job sites, or data centers.
