Bloomingdale Public Schools Food Service Director in Bloomingdale, Michigan

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma (or GED) AND 3 years of relevant food service experience
  • Supervisory and management experience preferred
  • Understanding of production records, sanitation, food cost, and menu development to adhere to the K -- 12 standards set by the USDA
  • Manage and complete budgets
  • Strong customer, client, and associate communication skills.  This includes written and oral.
  • Proficient computer skills.  Google Docs and Microsoft Office program knowledge is a plus.
  • ServSafe Certified
  • Handle catering events within the district

Responsibilities

The Food Service Director is responsible for all food service related activities in the District.  This involves daily breakfast and lunch meal service in all schools, maintaining a safe and clean kitchen for employees to work, monitoring food quality, keeping updated production records and menus for the program.

Responsible for maintaining all USDA guidelines that the food service program must follow.  The Director will also be responsible for the submission of paperwork to the Michigan Department of Education for food service.

Responsible for training and development of staff.

Develop strong relationships with the food service department and the rest of the school district.
