Duties: Investigate the technical and commercial feasibility of new ideas of products. Research the availability of raw materials, equipment, and process parameters to develop plans for the development of new products for polyester films. Recommend technical and engineering solutions to modify processes and workflows to research and develop new products for polyester films. Investigate the technical and commercial feasibility of new ideas for the applications of new products into new and existing markets. Collaborate with customers, Commercial Teams, and suppliers to recommend new product development to Terphane management teams to expand the Terphane product line and brand into new and existing markets. Conduct market analysis studies and market trend research by comparing existing Terphane products for polyester films with data from competitors in the marketplace. Develop process parameters and specify new equipment and equipment modifications required to produce new products. Analyze and research physical parameters and characteristics to develop new products without compromising quality, but also optimizing time and costs. Research standards, patents, articles, supplier materials, product records, and test materials/reports to develop new products safely and efficiently. Adapt the process for the transfer of products from one production line to the other. Evaluate process parameters of the parent line in comparison with the process parameters of the line receiving the film to promote production flexibility and feasibility. Develop product specifications of new products. Research and evaluate the data of physical properties supplied by the laboratory to ensure the physical properties adhere to product specifications and the integrity of the product’s quality. Collaborate with the laboratory to modify physical properties that do not adhere to product specifications and acceptance parameters for new products. Provide technical and engineering support to the Sales Team for the introduction and qualification of new products, markets, and applications for polyester films. Analyze physical proprieties for the development of products to support the Commercial Team responsible for overseeing all sales activities of the new products. Provide technical and engineering support to the Commercial Team by visiting customers to discuss product performance and compliance. Analyze and troubleshoot cases of nonconformity or complaints from customers to identify, develop, and implement solutions. Develop literature for the promotion of new products in product profiles and catalogs. Develop technical reports with analyses of analytical results of Terphane films to help in the approval process by customers, the application of solutions to nonconformities of new films, and the application and sales of films into new and existing markets. Conduct technical visits with customers to provide technical and engineering support to their technical needs and recommending tailored Terphane film products to address their business needs. Present on Terphane products to customers and analyzing their business products, existing processes, and goals to recommend Terphane products to improve the integrity of their products and the efficiency of their processes. Participate in knowledge-sharing trainings and seminars for internal Terphane teams and customers to improve and enhance their knowledge in the application of products for polyester films. Position requires: a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or closely related physical science or engineering field, or foreign equivalent, with 2 years of experience as an R&D engineer in the polyester film manufacturing industry developing polyester films using TOTVS, Sales Force, BI, Minitab, and mind map (mindmeister).
