Cigna Sr. Clinical Consultant - New York City Based - Evernorth in Bloomfield, Connecticut

POSITION SUMMARY

The New York City - based Sr. Clinical Consultant will support quality, safety, and tend initiatives within the Express Scripts Physician Engagement and Academic Detailing Department. Primary focus will be to ensure that al physician and pharmacist consultation initiatives are established and supported according to specifications, and that clinical criteria are appropriate, and in agreement with the program's intent. the Sr. Clinical Consultant serves as a clinical liaison to physicians and other prescribers regarding specific clients' programs, provides timely responses to inquiries, and maintains a record of academic detailing activities and results, as appropriate.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Utilizes multiple data analytics tools and case management information to monitor and analyze trends in Client's prescribing, and collaborates with Client, ESI's account team, and others to optimize opportunities to educate prescribers with the goal to improve quality.

  • Performs face to face and /or telephone counseling sessions with prescribers and their support staff regarding clinical, quality, and safety, with the goal of improving clinical outcomes and provider quality scores. The employee will support an environment that drives a stronger, more positive relationship with prescribers servicing Client members, and assist with improving prescriber satisfaction. The employee will conduct prescriber site consultations as reasonably required by Client (estimate at approximately 10 per month).

  • Supports Client pharmacy, nursing, and care coordination team with general clinical requests.

  • Conducts large provider training sessions as required by Client (estimate at approximately 2 per month).

  • Submits bi-weekly worksheets regarding (but not limited to) allocation of time, fulfillment of obligations, and participation in meetings in a form and manner as required by Client. Employee will maintain a schedule made available to management of planned prescriber meetings, and attend and actively participate in all such meetings absent pre-approval by Client. Sr. Clinical Consultant will also provide weekly site visit proposals to Client for approval, broken down by day.

  • Effectively participates in and contributes to ESI and Client staff meetings, committees, and departmental work groups to share best practices, improve processes, and/or other items relating to provider engagement, as requested.

  • Maintains record of activity and tracks clinical and financial impact to Client. Provides this information to Client.

  • Participates and contributes in formal and informal training programs and professional development activities which may include taking, developing, and/or conducting sessions.

QUALIFICAITONS

  • 3-5 years general pharmacy experience; 2+ years in managed care, the PBM industry, or pharmaceutical sales preferred.

  • Doctor of Pharmacy preferred

  • Licensed New York State pharmacist in good standing, credentialing as Board Certified in Pharmacotherapy, an HIV-certified pharmacist preferred.

  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications.

  • Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills in English required, (Spanish preferred).

  • Proven leadership skills, team-orientation, a proactive management style and strong commitment to client service a must.

  • Ability to work on multiple tasks, prioritize, resolve complex issues, and have strong project management skills.

  • Knowledge of PBM industry/Managed care/Value Based healthcare industry is desirable.

  • Position locate within the NYC (or surrounding) area; travel necessary to visit prescribers.

  • May be required to frequently work onsite at Client in New York City.

This position is not eligible to be performed in Colorado.
