The Cigna Group Senior Director - CareNav in Bloomfield, Connecticut
The Evernorth CareNav Senior Director will lead teams that deliver innovative healthcare technology solutions to our patients, members and customers. They will courageously push the boundaries of our agile engineering culture. They will passionately, persistently and productively challenge the status quo. They will balance a wide-range of initiatives and manage relationships with other technology and business leaders to deliver on our strategic priorities. They will forge new relationships with our technology partners across the organization.
Accountable for the end to end technology delivery of the CarNav product the leader will work in a matrixed organization in support of the holistic end to end delivery inclusive of product development and engineering practices inclusive of production support, quality assurance and reliability and resiliency.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Cultivate an empowered team who is deeply passionate about building quality software products
Foster ongoing agile engineering transformation and continuous improvement throughout the organization, advocating for common engineering patterns, efficiency, quality, resiliency, security and performance
Demonstrate courage in pushing cultural boundaries in a transforming organization
Create an environment of trust in which teams can "fail fast", developing the team in the process
Encourage innovation and diversity of thought to solve complex business problems
Remove impediments to achieving quality standards, project deadlines and business objectives

Develop strong matrix relationships with product owners, experience designers, peer engineering teams, architects, infrastructure engineers, etc.
Influence and communicate at all levels of the organization
Ensure holistic ownership and accountability for technology products and delivery, including
Deep understanding of the engineering practice maturity, strengths and opportunities in each product team, striving for continuous improvement
End-to-end knowledge of product ecosystem, business transactions, technology stack, dependencies, and engineering practices
Influence business partners at all levels of the organization to align future state business and technical road maps
Ensure technical product road maps are complete, consistent and feasible
Construct business cases to influence support for large, transformative technology investments
Partner with business and technical product owners to optimize working relationships and clarify roles and responsibilities
Establish organizational staffing strategy including budget planning, performance management and development of the team
Deliver through the team, using delegation effectively to deliver
Apply knowledge of business and the marketplace to advance the organization’s goals
Have the technical expertise and presence to lead the troubleshooting conversation confidently, yet is able to discern when it is appropriate to pivot between tactical and strategic tasks
Keep a pulse on industry trends and help the organization envision what is possible

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Technical Expertise
Full stack experience with developing mission critical applications (contact center & digital)
Familiarity with Cloud, Tech Stacks, Infra, Microservices, DevOps, Performance, Architecture
Familiar with resiliency and performance best practices and experience with tools building out monitoring, observability, etc
Familiarity with automation frameworks

Strong leadership, communication, and influence skills (accountable w/out responsible)
Strong problem solving skills
Strategic mindset with a passion for innovation and pushing the organization forward
Fluent knowledge of software engineering principles & philosophies (SOLID, DDD, TDD, etc)
Strong Emotional Intelligence
Demonstrated experience building cloud-based web applications
Demonstrated record of leading a team of software engineers and building high-performing teams.
Demonstrated record of setting strategy and vision for a team of software engineers.
Ability to provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems; solutions are innovative, thorough, practical and consistent with organizational objectives.
Ability to travel up to 20% domestically to other corporate sites and team locations.
