The Cigna Group Business Communications Specialist - Hybrid - Cigna Global Health Benefits in Bloomfield, Connecticut

Please note: This hybrid role will require the incumbent candidate to come into the local Cigna office 3 days per week.

The Business Communications Specialist will excel at working within a global, complex, fast-paced, and highly collaborative environment, partnering with Business Communications and functional partners, centers of excellence, senior business leaders, and other internal and external resources to drive business and Communications strategies. Strong and effective stakeholder, time, and project management are key to this role’s success.

The role will play a key supporting role for the small team and be accountable for project and communications plan management, report generation, functional workflows, writing and editing, and tactical analysis. Responsibilities include supporting the development and execution of communications strategies, plans, and tools that drive internal stakeholder engagement and understanding of business and executive priorities. This includes developing content for multiple channels including digital, print, and electronic, creating reports, and leveraging insights and analysis. The role plays a critical role in keeping the team’s priorities moving forward by supporting the creation, approval, and distribution of project-related materials such as senior leader presentation materials; organizational announcements; decks; and a wide variety of internal communications and content.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Supports the execution and measurement of Business Communications strategies and tactics

  • Assists in developing, managing, and maintaining a wide range of multi-channel communications.

  • Creates and maintains Business Communications Plan, ensuring timely execution and delivery of strategies and tactics.

  • Coordinates and supports communication tactic execution including creation, approvals, proofing, and distribution.

  • Responsible for measuring the effectiveness of Business Communications tactics across channels, including intranet, events, media outlets, and social.

  • Supports the development of custom internal client-specific communications.

  • Contributes to efforts designed to identify executive thought leadership and profile-raising communications opportunities, including public relations, and media tactics.

  • Understand the CGHB business and stakeholder needs.

The individual will be a fast learner with the ability and confidence to work with minimal supervision and independently with senior-level business partners to assess and drive progress and results. The role provides exposure and experience across the International Health business, and an opportunity to partner with peers and leaders across multiple functional areas.

Ideal candidates will offer:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in communications or equivalent work experience.

  • 8+ years in communications, or comparable roles with specific experience supporting the management and assessment of communication strategies.

  • Prior experience supporting the development of integrated communications plans.

  • Goal-oriented and personally accountable; resourceful and self-directed; a quick learner who is adept at managing through ambiguity, confident in proposing solutions, and able to drive results.

  • Outstanding organizational and project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently. Agility to pivot and reprioritize to meet changing demands and tight deadlines.

  • Creativity and focus with an ability to execute ideas quickly, decisively, and with a variety of teams and resources within and outside of the organization.

  • Attention to detail; ability to multi-task; deadline-driven mindset; and skilled at producing high-quality work products within short timeframes.

  • Strong relationship management skills and team player who can collaborate with internal and external partners to drive results by fostering collaboration and securing buy-in.

  • Proven ability and comfort working directly with senior-level business leaders.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, research and information-gathering skills.

  • Strong PowerPoint skills.

  • Strong interest in understanding the challenges and nuances of international business requirements; global communications experience a plus.

  • Insurance experience a plus.
