Under general direction, the Optimizing Sales and Business Development Manager is responsible for leading customer assessments and supporting modeling engagements.  The Optimizing Sales and Business Development Manager is the primary customer contact and report writer for customer assessment engagements.  This Manager assists the Modelers, working with them to execute assessment and modeling engagements.  In addition, this position engages with customers to collect the information necessary to conduct both assessments and modeling engagements.  This position also supports sales, conducting presentations using the Aspen Custom Modeler simulator and works with Field Services teams to execute recommended improvements for customers.  This work will be conducted across all of Crowns processing capability areas (Extraction, Preparation, Specialty, Refining, and SPC). 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Work with sales to identify, propose, and sign up customers for assessments and modeling engagements. 

  • Perform facility assessments and assist in modeling engagements to improve customer facility performance in energy, yield, capacity, water, and wastewater consumption.  

  • Work with Modelers to conceive of and design processes and equipment to improve the facilities that Crown serves - beginning with theoretical design, followed by modeling and recommended improvements.   

  • Work with Field Services teams to execute recommended improvements.  This work will be conducted across all of Crowns processing capability areas (Extraction, Preparation, Specialty, Refining, and SPC). 

  • Perform various engineering calculations, and analyses related to process design, equipment sizing, and selection. 

  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.   

QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS 

  • BS degree in Chemical Engineering. 

  • Minimum 10 years related experience 

  • Proficient in the following skills: 

  • Theoretical application of engineering principles for calculating and estimating process performance 

  • Strong Communication skills providing presentations to Facility Leadership teams and C-Suites -Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. 

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, customers, and vendors. 

  • Respond to requests from internal and external customers. 

  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions. 

  • Demonstrated experience in collaborating with cross-functional team, creating values for end customers, and driving operational excellence within areas of responsibility. 

  • Strong Microsoft office skills. 

  • Self manages; takes initiative and able to collaborate across geographies and functions in a matrixed environment 

  • High integrity and ethics. 

  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret contracts. 

  • Preferred knowledge of Aspen Custom Modeler. 

  • Preferred knowledge in Autodesk Inventor, CAD Vault, and Aspen. 

  • Must be able to communicate in English fluently. Ability to communicate in a second language – European or Asian languages preferred but not required.  

  • Ability to travel on need basis – domestically or internationally and up to 50% of the time.
