JACKSON COUNTY Animal Shelter Manager in BLACK RIVER FALLS, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Support the mission, vision and values of the Jackson County Animal Shelter; Perform data entry, record keeping, records management, etc. in accordance with policy; Perform, document, and report on account receivable and payables, present voucher/bills to committee for approvals; Supervise all animal shelter staff to include volunteers; Assist with staff hiring, training and performance evaluations of subordinate staff; Maintain and/or establish policy and procedures Supervise and assist when needed with preforming daily operations such as feeding, cleaning, intake/receiving, handling of animals, etc. in accordance with policy and procedures; Makes recommendations to the Jackson County and the Humane Society Boards regarding necessary funds to adequately meet the needs of the shelter Purchases and tracks controlled substances and other medications for use on animals. Ensures proper storage and security of such materials Gives incoming animals necessary vaccinations. Treats all animals for parasites and injuries as needed Responds to all animal related emergency calls which may involve pick-up of animals Performs emergency animal rescue services and emergency night call services Performs preliminary investigation of complaints of animal bite, abuse and neglect cases. Assists the Law Enforcement agencies when necessary. Tranquilizes dangerous/vicious animals in a safe, humane manner with Law Enforcement present. Appears in court as needed Perform (when certified) or assist with euthanasia and follows euthanasia policy relating to the retention, storage, and euthanizes or assists in the euthanization of unclaimed, excess, suffering and/or dangerous/vicious animals Examines captured animals for injuries and delivers injured animals to veterinarian for medical treatment Follows established disease control protocols to daily clean, disinfect and maintain shelter cages and runs Orders, transports and tracks cleaning supplies, dog and cat food and litter Maintains open shelter hours for the public Assists clients with animal adoption process. Facilitates client/animal interactions to insure safe and pleasant experience Educates and advises owners regarding the care of their animals Assists the public concerning the surrender, redemption or adoption of animals. Answers general animal concerns or questions Assists the public in a professional manner Maintains the shelter building in suitable operating condition and maintains compliance with necessary code and statutes Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization\'s policies and applicable laws ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Two (2) years of experience related to the care or treatment of animals Experience in operation of an Animal Shelter preferred Management/supervisory experience preferred ***** APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS: Apply Online: www.co.jackson.wi.us
