This position oversees all aspects of accounting & financial reporting for the Information Technology organization. This position shall serve as the key finance representative to the IT division. This role will report to Finance, but interacts daily with IT leaders including the CIO, and leads from all technology disciplines: PMO, Infrastructure, Security, Club Operations and Development teams.
In this role, you will manage all operating and capital expenditures within the established Information Technology Financial Management (ITFM) framework.
Coordinates all activities related to the monthly close process including preparing/reviewing journal entries, payroll analysis, establishing accruals, and validation of actual spend. Monthly provides the CFO with a status of IT spend and current trends.
Ensure proper internal controls are in place to comply with GAAP and SEC reporting. Provide guidance and recommendations on determining qualifications of labor capitalization related to project costs under the guidelines of SOP 98.
Develop and maintain the capitalization policies related to IT purchases and project labor.
Working with your business partners, prepare detail monthly forecasts for all projects and IT Services at a product, vendor level.
Annually coordinate the technology OpX and Capital Plan working closely with IT leaders, business leaders and the broader finance organization.
Prepare complex ad-hoc analysis and reporting as needed.
Review and approve all business case requests related to new investments, validating the IT spend, insuring a complete financial analysis is preformed, determine future year impacts, and provide various metrics to help with project ranking including ROI, payback, etc.
Prepare monthly reports and variance analysis for the CFO, CIO, and various teams.
Actively participate in various IT strategic discussions including Monthly Business Review, Project Prioritization, Project Costing.
Act as the Product Owner for the IT Financial Reporting system. Oversee all aspects of the tool including configuration, data accuracy, controls, and reporting. Working with the vendor and various IT teams, manage the data workflows, problem solve system issues as they are identified, and provide leadership as to future system enhancement needed to support a constantly changing environment.
Be the subject matter expert in determining the direction of the ITFM framework currently deployed and identify new opportunities to meet the changing needs of the IT and Business community.
Review and approve Purchase Requests ensuring contracts meet Company requirements, proper accounting coding, and validation of available funding.
This position provides senior management with an "early warning alert" for areas of concern as it relates to potential project overruns, trends in spending and internal controls within the IT Organization.
The position reports directly to the SVP/CAO, indirect to EVP/CIO and SVP/Strategic Planning and Analysis
Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting required, MBA preferred.
Prior experience supporting an IT organization required.
Experience using/managing an ITFM Software Solution strong preferred, experience with SAP and Nicus a plus.
In accordance with the Pay Transparency requirements, the following represents a good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position. At BJ’s Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is starting from $142,000.00.
