Position Title: Multimedia Specialist I, II, or III (Audio Visual)

Position Purpose:

This position assists with the following multi-media functions: videography; video production; computer graphic design; animation, photography; and web technology integration; live event production to include, planning, staging, lighting, and general Audio Visual (AV) support. The incumbent learns and applies new skills to utilize evolving communications methods and technologies that can more effectively connect and communicate with a variety of audiences under rigid customer deadlines.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist with producing “high production value” multi-media materials from concept to completion such as conducting one-on-one meetings with customers, developing, and presenting ideas, scheduling, producing approved materials from script and/or story boards, duplicating and distributing on various media formats. The end materials or services are expected to meet or exceed the customer’s objectives in a cost-effective manner.

  • Exhibit basic proficiency in the use of technical equipment used in AV production. This includes video production and editing equipment, computer graphic design, digital still cameras, laptops, projectors, audio equipment, drones, satellite and web streaming technologies, and the proper care and maintenance of all media production tools used to complete their work.

  • Assist with the production of computer graphics for use in videos, presentations, web pages, etc. Maintain a current and professional understanding of web technologies and how effectively videos are incorporated into web environment. Keep informed of innovations and techniques to make multimedia production more effective.

  • Assist with event design, equipment set up, staging, and operation for both on-site and off-site events.

Qualifications :

Multimedia Specialist I:

  • Four-year degree in communications or a related discipline; or

  • Two-year degree in communications or a related discipline and two years of related experience working in a professional video production environment; or

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED) and four years of related experience working in a professional video production environment.

Multimedia Specialist II:

  • Four-year degree in communications or a related discipline and three years of related experience working in a professional video production environment; or

  • Two-year degree in communications or a related discipline and five years of related experience working in a professional video production environment; or

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED) and seven years of related video production experience.

Multimedia Specialist III:

  • Four-year degree in communications or related discipline and five years of related experience working in a professional video production environment; or

  • Two-year degree in communications or related discipline and seven years of related experience working in a professional video production environment; or

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED) and nine years of related video production experience.

Other Requirements:

  • Hands-on experience using technical equipment to develop materials from conceptual stages to a final product.

  • Able to conceptualize and develop creative solutions to meet objectives.

  • Able to manage and prioritize work assignments and adjust to changing priorities.

  • Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to collaborate with team and clients.

  • Experience in using multimedia design software and Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point. Adobe Creative Suite preferred.

  • A valid driver’s license.

Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:

This position requires frequent sitting, standing/walking; occasional reaching below and above shoulder level, use of keyboard/computer, bending/reaching, kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds. It also requires finger dexterity and hand coordination. This position requires good hearing and vision, and the ability to speak. It also requires the ability to develop plans, procedures, and goals; present information to others; and work under stress to complete projects within deadlines. Equipment operated includes PC computers, printers, scanners, laminators, video and still cameras, video projectors, live event AV equipment such as a tri-caster and streaming resources and drones. Requires operation of a motor vehicle covered under the DOT Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s non-CDL program. Travel up to 20%.
