City of Bismarck HR Administrative Assistant in Bismarck, North Dakota
This position is responsible for providing administrative support for the city's human resource functions.
Examples of Duties
Answers telephone and greets visitors; provides information and assistance; takes messages and makes appointments; refers to appropriate personnel. Enters new hire information; creates and issues employee ID badges; assembles and files new employee personnel folders. Completes and transmits child support reports. Prepares bi-weekly reports to the Board of Commissioners related to personnel actions; prepares deferred compensation contribution reports; completes and disburses accrual reports. Disburses accounts payable checks for garnishment, child support, union dues, pensions, etc. Assists in conducting new employee orientation programs. Assists in managing the employee drug screening program. Processes employment verification requests. Makes copies of documents as needed. Prepares a variety of correspondence and memoranda. Sorts and distributes mail. Maintains office supply inventory; reorders as needed. Maintains department files and records. Performs related duties.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
