Job Summary

Diode Ventures is currently seeking a Director of Project Finance with 10+ years of transactional experience in infrastructure to join its team. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in project finance and capital raising, with an emphasis on renewable energy and/or data infrastructure projects. Candidates must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrate initiative and leadership, and have the judgment and confidence to work independently with clients and colleagues in a fast-paced environment.

The Director of Project Finance will report directly to the President and will leadvarious project finance transactions and negotiations with banks, equity investors and tax equity investors and will work with a close-knit team to advise on development and construction activities, asset sales and acquisitions. This individual will be responsible for setting the financing strategy across a portfolio of projects of different asset types, sizes, and geographic locations. Additionally, this individual will be responsible for understanding energy financing programs, solar markets and credits and for tracking legislative, regulatory and market changes that impact financing opportunities for potential customers.As the leader of the Project Finance group, this individual will also have supervisory responsibility. The Director of Project Finance must possess a strong desire to support the growing finance and business development efforts for a rapidly growing company.

LOCATION: Flexible, US, Preferred Kansas City (Overland Park, KS), Austin, TX or New York, NY.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the transactional efforts for all infrastructure projects within the global Diode portfolio, including staffing, legal correspondence, financial review, negotiation, diligence and internal approval processes.

  • Review complex financial models which support the analysis of energy or infrastructure assets or companies in those sectors.

  • Lead financial diligence efforts for select transactions, including the coordination of financial modeling, legal, tax, technical and insurance and manage external transaction advisors for projects under responsibility.

  • Facilitate the coordination between the various internal teams and departments working on and supporting the delivery of turnkey development projects, including design, construction, finance, legal and internal approvals.

  • Perform strategic and quantitative analyses, conduct due diligence and determine appropriate company and/or project valuation.

  • Independently execute primary and secondary research on markets, industries and companies.

  • Execute transactions and lead due diligence efforts for projects under responsibility.

  • Build and maintain relationships with investors, lenders and infrastructure funds globally.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Finance, Accounting, Math or Engineering.

Experience: Minimum of ten years relevant experience

  • Self-motivated, independent professional with excellent communication skills, strong technical aptitude and the ability to thrive under pressure

  • Cashflow or valuation modelling experience

  • Transaction experience in M&A (both sell side and buy side)

  • Direct experience with project finance derived from a background in investment banking, consulting/advisory; or infrastructure development; Energy sector preferred

  • Tax equity experience and relationships with tax equity investors preferred

  • Outstanding analytical skills and demonstrated expertise in developing and utilizing detailed, Excel-based, financial models

  • Energy market experience in one of the following sectors is preferred; utility scale renewables, distributed generation (i.e. rooftop solar, CHP etc.), energy services, retail electricity, natural gas transportation or distribution
