We are currently recruiting for a Principal Transport Planner to join the Transport Planning team in our Birmingham office. This is a great opportunity to join a collaborative and forward thinking multi-disciplinary company.

Our multi-disciplinary teams are working on a wide variety of projects in both the public and private sectors and, with a strong forward workload, we are now looking to expand the Transport Planning team.
We can provide the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, whether looking at site feasibility and Local Plan promotion or supporting clients with planning applications and discharge of conditions. Locally, our team has advised on key city centre regeneration schemes including Paradise, Birmingham, creating new communities of 100 to 5,000 homes, to strategic employment sites such as Symmetry Park, Rugby and Peterborough Gateway, prepared the town centre movement strategy for Shrewsbury and helped Universities grow and expand, such as UCB and BCU.

You will have the opportunity to work with a passionate team of transport professionals and play an important role in supervising and mentoring junior members of the team, as well as providing pivotal support to the team leader. To succeed in this role you will be a positive and enthusiastic team player and have a passion for transport planning. You will be degree qualified, ideally in transport, geography, engineering or other related field to the spatial environment. Ideally you will be a qualified Transport Planning Professional or be actively working towards professional qualification.
You will have an understanding of the UK planning system, be commercially aware and have experience in liaising and developing relationships with clients; providing them with a range of transport and development planning advice. This will include preparing and agreeing fee proposals to fulfil our clients’ objectives.
Technically, you will need to be experienced in preparing and reviewing Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and chapters for inclusion with Environmental Statements that would be presented as supporting documents to planning applications.
You will have experience of promoting transport strategies for clients that are resilient, flexible, low-carbon and sustainable, and negotiating on behalf of clients with highway authorities. Experience of reviewing junction modelling and analysis will also be required as well as experience of engaging with the public and key stakeholders.
You will also have experience managing projects, where consideration of timescales, budgets, resource and quality management is crucial and there will be opportunities to develop and progress these skills further through this role.
