Preqin Limited Head of Financial Planning & Analysis in Birmingham, United Kingdom

Job Overview:

The Preqin Group FP&A team acts as the main custodian for all management and business reporting and financial planning across the group. We are integral to the decision-making framework of the business and perform a key role in respect of ensuring the health of the business is sustained. This role will report into the Group Head of FP&A but with a primary focus of supporting the Colmore team.

You will provide FP&A support to the CEO of Colmore, working closely with senior business stakeholders to help drive deeper understanding of pipeline, revenues, profit, cashflow and customer profitability. As a senior member of the leadership team you will be expected to act professionally and with integrity, providing timely and accurate management information to enable the CEO and team to make appropriate business decisions. You will have 1 direct report as part of the team, and you will be responsible for their continued development and learning. This is a high-profile role within the business with the need for technical expertise, agility to deal with ad-hoc requests, an eye for detail and an analytical approach.

In this role you will:

  • Provide support and counsel to the Colmore CEO – highlight financial challenges / support strategic prioritization and run scenario analysis

  • Prepare monthly management accounts, shareholder reporting, and project reporting, analysing variances to budget, forecast and prior year across all 3 primary statements

  • Own the divisional budget, forecasting models working closely with the group financial planning manager

  • Prepare analysis and decks for Exco relating to budget and forecast

  • Work closely with HR to ensure hiring control and reconciliation – signing off (budget v offer)

  • Client profitability/ time recording – reviewing revenue booked against time recorded against a client

  • Analyse and report on the sales pipeline working closely with head of sales to ensure that deals are being accounted for as part of the budgeting, forecasting cycle

  • Pricing – Working with the commercial and operations teams, providing decision support on all pricing matters relating to new and large mandates

You are a good fit if:

Experience

  • 10 or more years’ experience of working in a commercially focussed business partnering role

  • Demonstratable track record of partnering with senior C-suite stakeholders, presenting management information to a discerning audience

  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently in order to meet tight deadlines

  • Working collaboratively across various finance functions and corporate functions (strategy)

  • Exposure to financial services, subscriptions and services businesses preferred

  • Have experience of managing, coaching and mentoring staff

Skills

  • Highly professional taking ownership of deliverables, actively participating in the strategic development of the business

  • Commercial mindset, capable of solving complex problems to ensure the business keeps moving forward

  • Highly effective communicator capable of dealing with senior stakeholders as well as colleagues across Preqin's global offices

  • Highly numerate with an understanding of how a subscription business understands its revenues

  • Hands on and capable of working to tight deadlines

  • Diligent, analytical, driven, and passionate with an excellent eye for detail

  • Advanced skills in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), and an understanding of Salesforce

  • Familiarity with other systems including ERP systems (SAGE Intacct, Acumatica), Workday Adaptive Insights, visualization tools (Power BI)

Education

  • Strong academics (Undergraduate degree with classification of merit or above)

  • Qualified accountant (equivalent qualifications will be considered, e.g. MBA, CFA, CPA) - attention will be given to the quality of the candidate's experience

Training and Development:
