This role is anticipated to be 75% performing in a technical role and 25% coverage performing the duties associated with this position.

Are you ready for a rewarding opportunity? We are seeking an ambitious software engineering professional to join our leadership team. The successful candidate will be responsible to coach, support, train, and motivate team members to ensure a high level of performance. This position will be responsible for personnel management of a software team to include performance assessment, career development guidance, program assignments, merit and salary actions, training plans, staffing and recruiting.

As the Software Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Promoting a productive, engaging and rewarding work environment where employees can contribute, grow & thrive

  • Defining team roles and responsibilities ensuring expectations are clear

  • Establishing performance standards and evaluating performance

  • Supporting engineers in meeting their commitments

  • Compensating and rewarding exceptional performance

  • Interviewing, selecting, and onboarding the best talent in the market

  • Providing career advice, guidance and supporting growth development plans

  • Securing next assignment opportunities for your team

  • Leading/supporting technical reviews and guidance as needed

  • Enforcing the software development process

  • Mentoring team members

  • Ensuring team members have the adequate resources to perform their job

  • Serving as channel for company communications

  • Administering company policies and practices

  • Collaborating with peers and direct management in resource planning and hiring activities

    Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or other technical field or equivalent education and work experience

  • Minimum of 10 years software development experience

  • Demonstrated success in prior leadership roles, with 3-5 years leadership experience

  • Experience supporting military or defense programs

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills

  • Strong critical thinking and logical reasoning skills with the ability to solve issues and predict potential programmatic and technical risks

  • Strong follow-up skills with attention to detail

  • Clear and concise communication in both written and verbal form

  • Assertive problem-solving, negotiations, and conflict-resolution skills

  • Ability to be diplomatic or firm, when necessary, to move business forward or obtain results

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and tight deadlines with confidence and ease

  • Ability to prioritize and organize workload across multiple groups

  • Must have proven ability to build trust and inspire others

  • Proven experience with the software development lifecycle

  • Proven track record of building relationships, fostering collaboration and working cross-functionally with multidisciplinary teams

  • Experience using earned value management systems to manage a team's cost and schedule performance

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance within a five-year investigation period

  • Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.

    Preferred Skills

  • Experience in an Agile/SAFe leadership role (Scrum Master, Product Owner, Release Train Engineer, e.g.)

  • Candidate must be a strategic, forward thinker with a can-do attitude.

  • High desire to provide customer satisfaction.

  • 5+ years of leadership experience

  • 15+ years of software development experience

  • Proven ability recruiting top talent

    Security Responsibilities

Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures.  Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval.  All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.

  • Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.

    Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.

    Physical Demands

Salary Range: $140,000 - $154,800 Please note: The actual compensation rate is subject to the evaluation of the following factors (but not limited to): the candidate's work experience, qualifications, skills, internal equity, and market.
