Overview
The Senior Trauma Registrar is responsible for high-quality data with high-quality data entry from the United Health Services trauma program into the trauma registry. The Senior Trauma Registrar coordinates the day-to-day collection of data for the Trauma Registry, as well as verifies completeness of data prior to submission to the New York State Department of Health (NYS DOH) and the National Trauma Data Bank (NTDB). The Senior Trauma Registrar reports to and works with the Trauma Program Manager to ensure that the trauma registry meets all requirements to achieve verification by the American College of Surgeons and to maintain designation as a trauma center by NYS DOH. The Senior Trauma Registrar self-motivated and a team player. The Senior Trauma Registrar demonstrates accuracy and confidentiality in the handling of all trauma-related matters.
Education/Experience
Minimum Required:
Associate’s Degree in Health Information Management, Nursing, or another allied health field
Must have completed ATS or similar trauma specific registrar class
Must have completed AIS 15 coding course or AIS update following AIS 05/08
Must have completed a trauma-specific ICD-10 course in the last 5 years

Certified Specialist in Trauma Registry

Certified Abbreviated Injury Scale Specialist
