Budget Title: Staff Associate (SL-4)

Salary: Commensurate with experience

The Director of Watson Graduate Recruitment in the Thomas J. Watson College of Engineering and Applied Science oversees the Office of Graduate Recruitment, providing leadership in administering a comprehensive range of services and activities to recruit highly-qualified graduate students for all graduate programs in the college. Watson College has aggressive graduate enrollment goals and expanding and strengthening the College's graduate enrollment funnel is a top priority.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the accomplishment of the college's graduate enrollment objectives by developing and implementing a comprehensive plan to recruit and enroll highly-qualified graduate students.

  • Develop data-driven recruitment and yield strategies utilizing data from a variety of sources to evaluate student characteristics and trends, as well as the college's market position and competition.

  • Work in close collaboration with the university's Office of Communication and Marketing to develop and implement targeted promotional materials (including digital content) to attract prospective graduate students.

  • Work in close collaboration with the university's Office of Graduate Recruitment and Admissions to develop and implement communication plans (including call, text, and email campaigns) encouraging prospective students to complete admissions applications and encouraging admitted applicants to enroll.

  • Maintain excellent working relationships with academic departments in Watson College and collaborate together on comprehensive and targeted recruitment plans for each of their graduate programs ensuring alignment with the college's goals and objectives.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with domestic and international undergraduate institutions.

  • Represent the college at industry conferences, professional society meetings, recruitment fairs and tours, and other events to promote graduate programs.

  • Collect and analyze data relevant to Watson College recruitment activities; use quantitative and qualitative analyses to make informed decisions and refine and improve effectiveness.

  • Provide leadership, management, and support for a team of dedicated and energetic graduate recruiters, providing guidance, training, constructive feedback, coaching and professional development opportunities. Develop a competent, productive and effective staff through hiring and supervision.

  • Effectively and responsibly utilize resources to accomplish enrollment objectives by planning, developing, and deploying the departmental budget.

    Job Requirements:

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution

  • Five years of progressively responsible experience in admissions or a related area in a higher education setting

  • Demonstrated success with strategic enrollment management tools and techniques.

  • Professional communication skills

  • Exceptional customer service skills

  • Ability to work effectively and respectfully with diverse populations

  • Supervisory experience

Preferred:

  • Experience working with engineering and/or computer science students

  • Experience in public higher education

  • Strong quantitative skills

  • Experience with Slate, or similar CRM tool

  • Experience with strategic marketing campaigns

  • Experience developing effective communications materials

  • Collegial and collaborative workstyle
