The School of Management at Binghamton University (State University of New York at Binghamton, a premier public R1 research institution) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in Management Information Systems (MIS) starting mid-August 2025, subject to budgetary approval.

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in business administration, information systems, or a closely related field or will have completed all degree requirements by the academic year obligation start date (August 18, 2025). The successful candidate should demonstrate research and teaching excellence. Desirable teaching interests for this role encompass both introductory and advanced MIS topics, such as introduction to MIS, systems analysis and applications, technical aspects of business analytics, IT leadership, emerging technologies, and digital innovation management.

Our faculty members have a wide range of research interests that encompass various aspects of information systems. We welcome applications from individuals with research interests in the broad domains of information systems, such as HCI, digital innovation management, IT strategies, IT leadership, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies. Preference will be given to those with an aptitude for collaborative and collegial work with diverse groups.

Job Requirements:

Position Responsibilities

  • Produce original and innovative research to be published in the top business academic journals. To support faculty research, the School provides summer funding for the first three years of service.

  • Instruct both undergraduate and graduate MIS courses. The standard teaching load is 2+2 per academic year.

  • Participate actively in the School's graduate programs and student advising.

  • Contribute to the School, the University, and the professional community by providing appropriate service through involvement in committees, shared governance undertakings, and review services.

Mandatory Qualifications

  • A current Ph.D. in business administration, information systems, or a closely related field, or have completed all degree requirements (including securing valid immigration status and work authorization, if applicable) by the academic year obligation start date (August 18, 2025).

  • Demonstrated potential to establish a successful track record of scholarly research. This can be substantiated by providing copies of published articles, submitted manuscripts, and work-in-progress papers aimed at publication in distinguished business journals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • We are a collaborative research group and are particularly interested in scholars whose work complements the ongoing research initiatives of our existing faculty.

  • Demonstrated capability to teach undergraduate and graduate MIS courses.

  • Experience in applying for and obtaining external research funding from major funding agencies is valued.
