Budget Title: Senior Staff Assistant (SL-3)

Salary: $70,000 - $80,000

The Assistant Director of Summer and Winter Programs at SUNY Binghamton plays a crucial role in the operational, financial, and promotional aspects of the university's summer and winter sessions. This position involves collaborating with various university departments to ensure smooth operations, financial planning, reporting, and contracting for these sessions. Additionally, the Assistant Director oversees marketing and promotion efforts to maximize enrollment and engagement. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to contribute to the success of SUNY Binghamton's Summer and Winter programs while utilizing their skills in operations, finance, and marketing.

Responsibilities include:

  • Operations, Financial Planning, Reporting, and Contracting:

  • Collaborate with CBASM on course proposals and schedule building, error reports, and course changes.

  • Develop fiscal models for the University's Summer and Winter programs.

  • Create faculty pay matrix and initiate faculty pay.

  • Work with departments to develop financial models and payment sliding scales for Summer and Winter Session Instructors.

  • Oversee hiring, including offer letters and HR processes for session instructors.

  • Manage financial reconciliation and reporting for Summer and Winter sessions in collaboration with the business office and office of institutional research.

  • Monitor course enrollment for course cancellations.

  • Monitor Summer and Winter email accounts to ensure timely responses and resolution of inquiries.

  • Marketing and Promotion:

  • Manage the creation, publication, and distribution of all Summer and Winter Session marketing materials.

  • Update and maintain the Summer and Winter Session websites.

  • Compile a list of online courses for Open SUNY course listing.

  • Methods of Accountability

  • Maintain regular verbal and written communications with the Vice Provost for Online and Innovative Education to ensure alignment with strategic goals.

  • Solicit and incorporate feedback from faculty, staff, and students to continuously enhance program quality and effectiveness.

  • Ensure compliance with college policies and procedures governing summer and winter sessions.

  • Undergo performance evaluations by the Vice Provost for Online and Innovative Education to assess job performance and identify areas for growth.

    Job Requirements:

Visa sponsorship is not available for this position

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Two or more years of course building or program management experience

  • Advanced skills in Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively to meet deadlines

  • Previous experience managing budgets and accounting, with comfort in mathematical calculations related to accounting

Preferred:

  • Masters degree

  • Proficiency with Banner SSB/IMB (especially course building), with additional experience in SAS Dashboards, SUNY Business Intelligence, and the Binghamton HR forms system

  • Familiarity with Binghamton University academic departments and programs
