Avangrid Service Company Analyst - Billing & Risk Management in Binghamton, New York

Job Title: Analyst- Billing and Risk Management (Wholesale Billing)Location: Kirkwood, NYWork type: OfficeThe salary range for this position is dependent upon experience, ranging from $64,538 to $80,673.Job Summary Support the timely processing, payment and reporting of critical financial data regarding NYSEG, RGE and MNG's wholesale electric, natural gas, and interconnection services activity during, but not limited to, the monthly closing process. This role involves working and collaborating with various local and global departments, as directed by managers and members in the New York Energy Services and Transmission Services teams.Prepare select monthly wholesale energy closing entries for NYSEG, RG&E and MNG within the timeline established by Avangrid Energy and Derivative Accounting. Perform wholesale invoice tie-out, and interacts, with external counterparties, prepares invoices for approval and payment, and ensures invoices are sent and received from both counterparties. Verifies wholesale invoices and create manual payment upload templates to post payment and accounting details into SAP. Prepare and monitor the monthly cash forecast to ensure all payments are sent or received on time. Work with Avangrid Cash Management to resolve issues with payment and receipt of funds.Responsibilities:Prepare monthly wholesale energy closing entries for NYSEG, RG&E and MNG within the timeline established by Avangrid Energy and Derivative Accounting.Verify wholesale invoices against our Energy Trade and Risk Management (ETRM) (Allegro). Works with both electric and gas supply, transmission services, and counterparties to resolve issues. Prepare detailed manual payment templates (including general ledger accounts and analytical orders) for uploading into SAP. These invoices are due on a weekly and monthly basis.Process all gas and electric confirms, reviewing them for accuracy against our transaction management system, resolving differences with the counterparty, before routing them for approval, then returning the executed copy back to the counterparty.Monitor unapplied cash to locate wholesale energy, ESCO, and developer funded interconnection payments and apply them to the correct vendor in SAP.Prepare and monitor the monthly Cash Forecast of New York wholesale invoices, ensuring that all NYSEG, RG&E and MNG wholesale invoices are received or sent Avangrid Energy and Derivative Accounting for posting into SAP. Verify that payments were made on time.Manage all wholesale invoices from receipt to posting in SAP to ensure that invoices are approved and posted in SAP in time to for Avangrid Cash Management to make on-time payment.Prepare documents to confirm compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) internal controls.Work regularly with both internal and external auditors, responding to data requests.Other tasks as assigned.Required Qualifications:Associate's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.Excellent analytical, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.Ability to perform detailed data verification efficiently and accurately.Microsoft Excel experience.Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, a related field, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.Accounting experience.Accounts payable and/or receivable experience.Prior experience performing month-end closing.Billing experience with wholesale energy markets such as NYISO, ISO-NE, PJM, or natural gas pipelines.Experience with SAP reconciling general ledger accounts, creating manual payment monitor requests, creating journal entries.Experience with Allegro - Avangrid Network's Energy Trade and Risk Management (ETRM) system.Proven experience with Microsoft Excel automating processes, analyzing data, developing complex formulas, lookups, and pivot tables to improve efficiency and accuracy.Skills/Abilities: Desire to Learn: Strong desire to develop technical and financial knowledge.Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and accountability for results.Problem-Solving: Good problem-solving capabilities, including the ability to independently diagnose and solve issues and knowing when to seek input and guidance.Collaboration: Ability to work on projects both collaboratively and independently.Operational Insightfulness: Provide high-quality information to the NY Energy Services and Transmission Services teams about underlying performance drivers.Adaptability: Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing and interfacing with cross-functional internal groups of all levels and competencies.Behavioral Competencies: Develop self & others Empower to grow Collaborate and share Be a role model Focus to achieve results Be agileCompany:NY STATE ELECTRIC & GAS CORPMobility InformationPlease note that any applicant who is not a citizen of the country of the vacancy will be subject to compliance with the applicable immigration requirements to legally work in that countryAVANGRID's employment practices and policies are geared to hiring a diverse workforce and sustaining an inclusive culture.
