This Position is for a Network Administrator at the Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi.
Summary: Provide essential network administration capabilities in support of the 333d Training Squadron's (333 TRS) mission at the Air Force Undergraduate Cyber Warfare Training, Cyberspace Warfare Operations Apprentice Course, and Information Technology Fundamentals and advanced skills courses. Provides network administrator subject matter expertise (SME) and other essential capabilities to support the 333d TRS to provide initial, advanced, and supplemental cyberspace training to Air Force, joint, and coalition partners.
Duties & Responsibilities: Provide day-to-day administration, security, enhancement and documentation of internal network. Provides prompt IT support and assistance with a variety of day-to-day tasks to support the IT team and staff with security, enhancement and documentation of the network. This position also requires hurricane recovery and emergency outage response. Oversee overall network security. Ensures protection from viruses or other security threats, corrupt data and maintain system backups. Communicate hardware/software problems with outside support personnel, i.e.: vendors and technical support representatives. Implement new server and network hardware and corresponding software solutions. Maintain agency-wide server system to ensure servers are stable, software is updated with appropriate patches and downtime is minimized. Ensure that all network systems are functioning and communicating properly. Systems include server hardware, server software, firewalls, routers, network switches, VPN devices, cabling (Ethernet and fiber optics), wireless routers, and other related network systems. Track system's end of life and specifies replacements when needed. Manage and support e-mail, database servers, virtualization servers, video conferencing and implements secure Internet access where needed throughout the organization. Research and recommend hardware/software purchases. Participates in assessment of needs to select and purchase appropriate hardware/software to integrate with the existing base. Create, distribute and award RFPs as necessary. Issues and assesses RFI as necessary. Document existing systems and formulates comprehensive plans for the implementation of new systems. Perform regular inventories of existing IT equipment & reports any discrepancy to Program Manager. Provide assistance and guidance to IT Technicians as needed. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements and Qualifications[]{#Hlk142289191}[]{#Hlk142304825}: Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent and at least 4 years' experience in the field of MIS including experience with Windows. Must have extensive network engineering and troubleshooting experience. Must have an advanced understanding of networking protocols & procedures. Must have experience with tier 1 network hardware in a production environment. Must have an advanced understanding of Microsoft OS & applications, including server applications, i.e. Exchange in a production environment. Must have an extensive experience with hardware/software troubleshooting and analysis. Must be able to demonstrate initiative, the ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and determine priorities in a fast-paced environment. Must have excellent people skills; communication and familiarity with a customer support environment are crucial.
Desired Qualifications: SecureView experience a plus. CompTIA A+ CE certificate preferred. CompTIA Network+ CE certificate preferred. CompTIA A+ CE certificate preferred. CompTIA Network+ CE certificate preferred. Familiarity with VMware, Hyper-V, and Nutanix preferred.
Must complete the following certifications within the first six-months of employment: NOTE: Certifications are a condition of employment and must remain active for the duration of employment.
Security Requirements: Must have and Active DoD Secret Clearance and be able to maintain the clearance. Prefer a DoD TS/SCI security clearance.
Travel Requirements: Occasional Travel- less than 10 %. If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements: Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods. Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
