Job Description:
Operate in the prehospital and interhospital environment to provide patient care in the ambulance and throughout the patient transport within the scope of practice for Montana EMT and National Registry EMT credentials. Also responsible for driving and operating the ambulance in routine traffic and emergency traffic situations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Obtains patients vital signs to include blood pressure, pulse and temperature and understands normal ranges and changes. Informs RNs or Physician of changes in vital signs.
Works with EMT or Paramedic partner to provide safe transport of patients between hospital and receiving facility.
Effective interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication
Basic computer skills
Conducts an inspection of ambulance and equipment at the beginning of each shift to ensure ability to care for patients
Establishes and maintains effective radio communication with HELP Flight dispatch and other agencies
Initiates department standing orders in appropriate patients. Performs basic airway techniques including oxygen therapy. Participates in HELP Flight Safety committee Able to load and unload ambulance stretcher with one person assist Completes an initial assessment of the patient and documents in the EMR. Initiates needed interventions to support safe patient transport Provides safe movement of patients, applying principles of safe patient handling.

Performs other duties as assigned.

May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.

● Regular attendance to perform work on site during regularly scheduled business hours

● Must be able to pass a physical health assessment examination upon hire and annually
thereafter

● Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
● Experience in understanding usage of computers and ability to learn new programs
relevant to the position
● EMS communications (radios) and familiarization with EMS system
● Familiarity with extrication devices and rescue operations
● Hazardous materials recognition and response
● Highway scene safety management
● Survival training/techniques/equipment that is pertinent to the
environment/geographic coverage area of the medical service
● Human Factors – Crew Resource Management
● Stress recognition and management/resilience
● Recognizes signs of fatigue
● Safety and risk management training
EDUCATION
Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Completion of Basic EMT training program or Paramedic Training is required in the state of practice.
Preferred: Emergency Vehicle Operator Course or equivelent
Certifications
Must have current Montana and National Registry Emergency Medical Technician certification
Must maintain current AHA Basic Life Support Certification
Must have valid and unrestricted United States Drivers License
Experience
Minimum of 1 year experience as an EMT

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
$16.24 - $24.88
