Position General Responsibilities:

This position assists the Commercial Lender by spreading customer financial statements and analyzing them, identifying customer strengths/weaknesses. In addition they prepare financial forecasts with the assistance of bankers to assist in the assessment of the borrower's capacity. Finally they are responsible for providing support to the banker to assist them in soliciting, developing and maintaining profitable account relationships to increase Stockman Bank's market share in this business. This position will also take on the role of a lender trainee.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. 4-year college level course of study in Business Administration and/or financial institution or related field experience or equivalent training and/or experience.

  2. Excellent customer service skills.

  3. Strong communication and organizational skills.

  4. Must be able to work independently and to prioritize multiple tasks.

Specific Skills Preferred

  1. 3-5 years of Credit Analyst experience.

  2. Attention to Detail- ability to notice and correct errors, document and follow up on important details and provide a high-quality -end-product.

  3. Knowledge of financial statement and cash flow analysis, & basic working knowledge of GAAP.

  4. Familiarity with legal contracts and the Uniform Commercial Code as related to lending and collateral perfection.

  5. Professionalism - maintaining a professional attitude, image, and work ethic.

  6. Understanding of and ability to work with lending software with proper training.

  7. Team Playing - willingly collaborating and cooperating with others, developing effective working relationships

  8. Ability to remain focused and on task and efficiently work unsupervised meeting all deadlines.

  9. Written and verbal communication skills - ability to concisely and clearly present critical details.

Position Specific Responsibilities, Duties and Competencies

Analyze and Process:

  1. Assist Lenders in analyzing existing and new customer credit requests.

  2. Work with Lenders and Loan Processor to coordinate the request/receipt of business and personal financial statements.

  3. Coordinate timely spreading of financial statements with Credit Analysis.

  4. Analyze statements, identifying customer strengths/weaknesses and questions/concerns to be raised to the client.

  5. Prepare financial forecasts/pro-forma statements in consultation with Lenders to assist in assessment of borrower capacity.

  6. Prepare financial analysis documentation (i.e. Routine Administration Checklist, Loan Documentation Checklist, Spreads, etc.) in consultation with the Lenders/manager, as appropriate, for review and approval by Lenders.

  7. Review file documentation for completeness and correctness, in accordance with Front End Guidance, Credit Policy, and Credit Process Procedures.

  8. Manage annual credit review and file comments.

  9. Working delinquent loan accounts by calling customers and follow-up with tickler list

  10. Monitor existing credits for collateral review, interim statement review, loan covenant compliance, etc.

  11. Process construction draw requests and ensure completeness and identify any discrepancies.

Sales/Public Relations:

  1. Participate in joint customer calls and/or inspections with Lenders to identify additional sales opportunities for existing and potential customers.

  2. Assist manager in the monitoring of overall credit quality through appropriate presentations at weekly/monthly meetings to identify loan delinquencies, reviews past due (60 days +), technical exception (30 days +), watch list and early warning credits.

  3. Involvement in customer interview process when necessary.

  4. Promote the improvement of Stockman Bank through quality customer service, promotion of products professionalism in conduct and diligent work ethic.

  5. Greet all customers pleasantly and make them feel welcome and comfortable.

  6. Handle transactions quickly and professionally.

  7. Effectively handle customer questions and problems.

  8. Perform appropriate follow-up with customers after sales are made and determine if their needs have been met.

  9. Communicate (verbally and /or in writing) in a positive, professional manner with customer and vendors. Display a professional appearance and behavior that will gain the confidence of customers.

  10. Assist Lender in origination of commercial loans.

  11. Maintain extensive knowledge of loan and non-deposit services by studying product information, bulletins, regulations and updates.

  12. Understand and comply with SB/SFC lending policies and procedures and documentation of consumer files.

  13. Lien filings and insurance follow-up.

  14. Responsible for regulatory compliance - all consumer and small commercial loans.

  15. Stay current on various loan programs such as SBA, FMHA, and MBOI.

  16. Ability to properly structure and price loan relationships.

Credit Support:

  1. Prepare credit write ups.

  2. Pulling credit reports.

  3. Filing/Correspondence/Photocopying.

  4. Build/Maintain files.

  5. Process paid and renewed notes.

  6. Receive and make loan advance requests.

  7. Receive and make payments/corrections.

  8. Monitor lien filings.

  9. Preparation and storage of closed & purged files.

  10. Maintain Tickler File.

  11. Prepare comments for loan files; adverse actions letters.

  12. Correspondence related to documentation of loan files.

  13. Process construction draw requests.

Miscellaneous Duties:

  1. Secretarial Support.

  2. Greet and assist customers.

  3. Answer phones, takes messages and assist with general account information.

  4. Other duties as may be assigned.

Federal Regulation:

Maintain a working knowledge of Bank's written policies and procedures that apply to and concern this position's area of responsibility, including general regulations such as the Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security and various other Federal and State regulations as they apply.
