In this exciting role as a Design Technician IV – Tooling and Fixture , you will be the lead technical designer and expert for any custom tooling or equipment for the Billerica, MA site. The Design Technician IV will provide high level technical support in the areas of production, operations, maintenance, safety, testing, process improvement, and product development.

The Design Technician IV ensures that design and design documentation adhere to Medtronic quality standards while defining effective and efficient application of design materials, schematics, prints, and instructions. You will work alongside the production line to troubleshoot electronic and mechanical components, equipment, and systems to enable efficient solutions while liaising between production and engineering.

The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude and is knowledgeable in a variety of manufacturing and fabrication techniques.

A Day in the Life

As the Design Technician IV, you will:

  • Design components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations.

  • Utilize computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools, such as Creo or SolidWorks.

  • Gather information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposal.

  • Define design solutions and criteria in conjunction with engineering and manufacturing.

  • Help troubleshoot issues on the line and propose potential solutions.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience of relevant experience and may require vocational or technical education and advanced certification in addition to prior work experience.

  • High School Degree or equivalent

Nice to Have

  • Tooling and Fixture experience

  • Medical device experience

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply to others).
