Receptionist provides continuous communications for the Big Spring State Hospital using a VoIP console application and performs receptionist duties for the agency.Work involves answering, placing, transferring calls, placing conference calls, monitoring the facility fire alarm system, operating the public-address system, using and monitoring two-way radios, receiving visitors, and providing general information. This position supports a 24/7/365 departmental operation and requires significant schedule flexibility including occasional overtime. The successful candidate for this position will occasionally work other shifts as necessary to support thedepartmentand#146;s mission. The Receptionist works under the supervision of the Switchboard Supervisor. Essential Job Functions1. Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.2. Monitors the facilityand#146;s Campus Fire Alarm Notification System.3. Monitors the facilityand#146;s Emergency Phone. Dispatches Security to emergency locations and communicates emergencies to Medical, Nursing, Administration, Safety and Communications leadership personnel immediately.4. Places, answers, and routes calls, using computerized telephone software.5. Operates a 2-way base radio to communicate with hospital staff and personnel.6. Greets and communicates visitors, staff, and patients in person and over the phone.7. Provides directions to hospital campus location as needed and responds to inquiries for patient information when responding to requests for such information.8. Provides training for new staff and updated training of new procedures to general switchboard staff.9. Connects conferences calls with Medical Staff, Nursing Staff and outside Medical Hospital facilities.10. Maintains and issues master keys for BSSH Lodging and contractors as needed.11. Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agencyand#146;s obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location. Registrations, Licensure Requirements or CertificationsNone Knowledge Skills Abilities1. Knowledge of the operations of a multiline telephone system.2. Knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.3. Ability to transfer incoming calls to appropriate personnel and to greet and direct visitors.4. Ability to prepare and maintain records, files, and reports.5.
