Apply now to join our team.The Custodian I performs entry-level custodial work and follows all hospital rules and policies. Work involves cleaning, disinfecting/sanitizing and caring for hospital buildings, premises, and/or hospital units. Responsible and accountable for assigned equipment and the maintenance of custodial equipment. Maintains outside areas around building, clears trash and debris. Works under close supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.Essential Job FunctionsAttends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.1. Performs general custodial functions such as sweeping; moping; dusting; cleaning windows; light fixtures; carpet care.2. Performs restroom maintenance, replenish supplies and applying cleaning chemicals as appropriate. Cleans, dusts, and disinfects area such as offices, furniture, windows, floors, walls, empty trash and other facilities.3. Operates floor maintenance equipment, including buffers, vacuums, and extractors.4. Moving furniture and other items.5. May perform minor maintenance and repair work on custodial equipment.6. May inspect buildings for cleanliness and report needed repairs as appropriate.7. May perform related work as assigned.Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agencyand#146;s obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.Registrations, Licensure Requirements or CertificationsKnowledge Skills Abilities1. Knowledge of cleaning techniques and procedures.2. Skills in the use of custodial materials and chemicals and operation of custodial equipment.3. Able to perform housekeeping/custodial duties.4. Able to stand and work for long periods of time; bend and stretch to clean hard to reach areas.5. Able to clearly understand oral and written instructions and to follow those directions.Initial Screening Criteria1. Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent is generally preferred.2. Work experience, preferably in environmental services.
