Apply now to join our team.The CookIII performs complex (journey-level) food preparation work. Workinvolves preparing, seasoning, and cooking food, and maintaininginventories and records of food consumption. May provide guidance toothers. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude forthe use of initiative and independent judgment.The Cook III will beinvolved in taking food/ beverage orders from customers, ensures thatall food preparation areas food storage areas, counter serving areas andfloors are kept clean and sanitized. Monitors raw food production,cooking methodology, sanitation practices for compliance to all FDA andTexas Food Establishment Rules and regulations. Reports to Food ServiceManager I; serves as acting manager in the absence of the CanteenManager I. Essential Job FunctionsAttends work on a regular basis andmay be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even arotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance withagency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.1. Serves ascashier, accurately operates cash register with a maximum of 3 voids pershift.2. Prepares food using proper equipment and utensils and in amanner that ensures sanitary conditions.3. Prepares and portions foodfollowing food service procedures.4. May be required to superviseassigned employees in all areas of food preparation, delivery,sanitation, safety and personal hygiene.5. Prepares and participates inthe distribution of food in a safe and sanitary manner according to thefood service policies.6. May be required to assist in serving food forspecial diets and following food service procedures.7. Follows properfood handling in accordance with food service procedures, state, federaland HACCP guidelines.8. May be required to receive delivery of food andsupplies from vendors.9. Follow procedures for sanitation and storage ofthe dishes and food service equipment.10. Follows required sanitationprocedures for cleaning kitchen, stock room and food preparationareas.11. Observes safety procedures and practices.12. May be requiredto supervise/train others in food preparation.13. May work/assist inother food services departments and be required to handle cash in a safeand secure manner.14. Maintains work areas in a sanitary and organizedmanner.15. When required, answer the telephone promptly and transmitmessages in a clear, concise, and positive manner.Other duties asassigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/orserving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations fordisaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP)activation.
