Position Summary
Guest Coordinators are the “face” of Pine Summit and are the primary point of communication with our guests before and during their stay at camp. Hosts are expected to exemplify the meaning of customer service as they remain in constant contact with the guest group leadership. The Guest Host is the conduit between what Pine Summit offers and what our guests require to have a successful camp experience.
Essential Functions
Facilitate planning and effective communication with guest group leaders to ensure a successful arrival day
Coordinate guest stays by proactively communicating important information regarding their retreat
Ensure that camp has been set up for the group’s arrival, checking lodging, meeting areas, and restroom facilities, checking room temperature, ensuring each area is prepared
Prepare arrival packets and keys for groups before their arrival
Check in groups as they arrive, communicating Pine Summit SOP’s, checking for numbers and changes, appropriate check-in sheet utilization, etc.
Apply group changes to invoice to assure accurate accounting and billing
Open Ponderosa dining hall to the group for each meal, using diplomacy to maintain a friendly and orderly environment
Use of the PA system in the Ponderosa to present announcements, meal instructions, and any other necessary information
Patrol camp grounds to assure that groups are maintaining appropriate conduct in accordance with camp guidelines especially when it comes to outdoor sound levels, group supervision of campers, appropriate usage of camp inventory and property, and general safety
Inspect and clean public restrooms and meeting rooms as needed to help maintain a clean facility
Stay in constant contact with groups and group leadership, checking in to maintain understanding of groups needs and also group mood (are they happy with Pine Summit)
Interact with groups long as it does not interfere with hosting duties
Meet with group’s leaders to ensure they have all the information required for their stay
Closing camp after the group’s departure
The Guest Host work AM & PM shifts, as scheduled by the Guest Host Supervisor
Be available for camp tours with Group Sales Representatives
Provide prompt and polite service internally and externally
Run the camp store and various activities at camp as assigned. Operate POS system and handle cash and inventory according to Salvation Army policies
Attend staff meetings as needed
Assist with cleaning camp in between guest groups
Perform other incidental and related duties as required
Sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
Grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead.
Ability to access and produce information from a computer
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

Minimum Qualifications
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum two (2) years’ experience in some capacity of customer service preferred
Bilingual in English/Spanish, helpful.
Physical mobility and endurance to perform tasks while standing or walking for long periods of time (60 minutes or more)
Ability to lift 50 pounds or more
Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis as needed to perform necessary duties.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
Knowledge of The Salvation Army mission, philosophy, culture, protocol and organizational structure.
Must have ability to work well independently in a detailed, professional and courteous manner.
Word processing experience. Familiarity with computer software programs for camp registration or ability to learn. Microsoft Windows, Word and Excel are especially valuable.
Customer service mindset.
Possess a valid CA driver’s license.
