Guardian Life Product Lead, Supplemental Health and Worksite Offerings in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania
We are seeking a highly motivated Supplemental Health and Worksite Product Lead to join our Life & Supplemental Health Product team.
As the Product Lead, Supplemental Health and Worksite Offerings you oversee all aspects of Guardian’s Group Benefits Supplemental Health product portfolio which includes a newly launched Permanent Life product. Working in close partnership with the Head of Supplemental Health & Life you will develop and execute product strategies to drive market-leading growth and deliver value to our customers and stakeholders.
This individual will partner closely with Strategy, Sales, Account Management, Finance, Underwriting, Claims, Enrollment, Technology, Operations and all relevant third-party partners to construct and bring to market-differentiated offerings, including but not limited to new product features, integrated claim processes, well-being solutions, and member engagement strategies. These strategies must be informed by robust consumer research, the evolving macro and competitive landscape, and feedback from internal stakeholders. You will ensure all product enhancements deliver strong economic value while being a steward of the supplemental health P&L. Additionally, you will work in concert with Guardian’s compliance partners to navigate a constantly evolving regulatory landscape, including minimum loss ratio rules to ensure Guardian’s product portfolio remains compliant.
The supplemental health and voluntary market is continuously changing, so the ideal candidate must demonstrate excellent leadership skills, work autonomously and take initiative, and work collaboratively with all cross-functional stakeholders across the value chain as well as strategic partners.
You Will:
Works autonomously with little direction to develop and communicate a clear product vision and roadmap that is aligned with Guardian’s portfolio, goals and objectives.
Possesses a solid understanding of business dynamics and/or political sensitivity coupled with broad and deep domain knowledge.
Owns, defines, and regularly refines the Supplemental Health and Worksite product strategy, aligning with stakeholders and being an evangelist for improving the wellness of those we serve.
Defines and monitors KPIs to ensure business value and performance outcomes are achieved.
Collaborates across Product and with cross-functional business partners to bring new and innovative offerings to market.
Effectively and persuasively communicates with all levels of the organization, externally and in large public forums. Understands how to communicate effectively and easily adapts to the audience; articulates information in a manner that is easily understood.
Responsible for navigating and negotiating with vendor partners, and stakeholders across multiple teams and departments.
Ownership of product management processes throughout the product lifecycle, including product research and development, roadmap planning, and launch activities.
Constantly monitors industry trends, regulatory environment, and competitive position to proactively inform prudent business decisions.
Create and deliver engaging and compelling presentations that clearly communicate new product ideas, offerings, benefits, and strategic rationale. This includes representing Guardian in Thought Leadership webinars and speaking engagements, broker meetings and roadshows, industry associations etc.
You Have:
Minimum 7 years of experience in group worksite product suite, including supplemental health and permanent life products, preferably in product development and management.
Savvy and influential vendor relationship management and development.
The ability to develop a clear product vision and translate that vision into actionable product roadmaps. Produces clear and compelling supporting documents in PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills from entry-level to senior management.
Effective stakeholders’ management
The ability to effectively prioritize and handle multiple priorities.
Fosters a high level of teamwork and collaboration between employees, teams, across departments and the field as appropriate.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; comfortable using metrics and data to form insights, guide decisions, and measure success.
Excellent Organizational and management skills with a track record of delivering results on time and within budget, creating the optimal business outcome.
Experience working within a matrixed environment and leading cross-functional teams.
Entrepreneurial – ability to work independently and under pressure; ability to bring clarity to ideas that may appear unclear or ambiguous in concept.
Strong financial acumen and strong analytical skills, ability to analyze and communicate financial information, own business case development and the health of the supplemental health P&L.
Knowledge of Agile and Lean product development methodologies.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in business, computer science, marketing science or related fields.
Ability to travel up to 25%
Location and Work Arrangement:
The preferred locations for this position are Bethlehem, PA and Boston, MA.
The work arrangement is hybrid (three days per week in Guardian's Bethlehem, PA Office or Boston, MA Office; two days per week working from home).
Salary Range:
$96,960.00 - $159,300.00
The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
