The Patient Care Technician will work in the Ortho/Neuro Unit, which features 33 beds with 31 private rooms. RNs care for patients who have undergone hip and knee replacement, laminectomies and trauma patients. We recently earned The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of approval for its Joint Center.

The Patient Care Technician performs routine and specialized tasks in providing direct patient care under the functional direction of a registered nurse.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists with patient care, such as personal hygiene, special skin care, ambulation, transfer and treatment procedures, including enemas, ostomy care, oral suctioning, catheterization, bed making, and sterile dressings.

  • Observes and monitors vital signs.

  • Observes, monitors, reports and documents patient’s condition, symptoms, and reports to nurse as appropriate.

  • As a team member, contributes to the daily patient care activities.

  • Collects specimens and assists nursing staff with proper requisitioning.

  • Assists in ambulation and range of motion.

  • Performs minor housekeeping tasks to keep patient areas clean.

  • Runs errands, procures equipment and sets up equipment.

Licensure/Experience:

  • CPR certification

  • Maryland CNA licensure a must.

  • Prior patient care experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Hours:

  • PRN

  • Availability for days (7a - 7p), nights (7p - 7a), or weekends
