The Associate Director of Development will work within the Suburban Hospital Foundation, which serves as the fundraising arm of Suburban Hospital. The Foundation is focused on raising funds for capital projects, cutting-edge programs, nursing education, enhanced clinical programming and state-of-the-art technology.

The Associate Director of Development is responsible for the identification, cultivation and solicitation of major gifts and high-end annual gifts in support of Suburban Hospital from friends, grateful patients, and select foundations. The associate director will work with senior development staff members, hospital leadership and administrators to manage a portfolio of prospects with a particular focus on gifts in the $100,000 to $1M+ range.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the research, teaching and clinical programs and priorities of Suburban Hospital in order to represent these needs both internally and externally.

  • Manage a personal portfolio of prospects, engaging and moving them along the prospect readiness continuum as appropriate, whether via discovery, cultivation, solicitation or stewardship visits. This individual will be expected to execute approximately 110 visits annually.

  • Work closely with assigned leadership to create strategy plans for grateful patients, soliciting the patients when appropriate.

  • Work with the Director of Philanthropy to develop a comprehensive fundraising strategy.

  • Participate in the planning of major development events as needed.

  • Participate in tours, and other events as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and three to five years related experience, with at least two years of professional (exempt level) experience required.

The Associate Director needs to possess excellent verbal and written communication and strong organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills. The candidate must also be able to use good judgment and juggle priorities in a fast-paced environment, use discretion handling confidential information, and be able to forge strong relationships with Suburban’s grateful patients, clinical staff, volunteers and friends.

Transferable skills may be considered in lieu of direct fundraising experience.
