Wise Foods, Inc. Sanitation Supervisor-Food Production in Berwick, Pennsylvania
The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for directing all activities associated with the sanitation operation. Oversees sanitation function to ensure compliance with all Company, industry, quality management programs and food safety systems. Ensuring the plant is always audit ready, and working with other Wise Foods plant facilities to determine Best Practices procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the development, implementation, documentation, training and on-going improvement of the sanitation program in support of the plant's Safe Quality Food (BRC) certification
Develops and implements new methods, procedures, and systems to improve sanitation performance
Ensure all equipment is maintained and operated according to established sanitary and housekeeping standards, to highest efficiency necessary
Cooperate with engineering and production departments in the required maintenance of equipment and facilities
Coordinate with plant Manager and QA Manager to assure proper follow up on all customer and regulatory issues (complaints, audits, and requests for information)
Lead, teach and motivate all plant employees in pursuit of sanitation excellence and plant safety
Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments
Schedule adequate staffing to ensure sanitation operations are complete on a timely basis
Work closely to ensure SOP requirements are maintained
Help to ensure all employees follow company and OSHA safety guidelines
Communicate with other departments and management on sanitation concerns and actively make recommendation for changes in equipment, plant layout, or work practices to improve sanitation standards
Plan cleaning schedule and proper allocation of resources
Use initiative to find and correct non-complaint sanitation issues
May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Education/Experience/Specific-job-related skills:
B.S. in Food Technology, Engineering, Microbiology, or other related field is preferred
Four years' experience in operations or plant sanitation activities with a minimum of two years in a supervisory role
Must have a sense of urgency and drive for continuous improvement, problem solving, and root cause analysis
Able to develop work instructions and documentation
Training skills is a must have
Good verbal and written communication skills
Excellent trouble shooting skills and mechanical aptitude
Experience with Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Power-point)
Spanish as a second language would be an asset.
