Description/Job Summary

PURPOSES SPECIFIC TO THE POSITION

To learn and execute functions within the Engineering Services Department including, but not limited to, operating and maintaining equipment, tools, software, records and other systems utilized for the planning, design, construction, operation, inspection, and maintenance of Carroll Electric Cooperative's system.

RELATIONSHIPS

  • Reports to departmental supervisor as assigned.

  • Directs - none, unless directed by department supervisor.

  • Cooperates and coordinates with all persons, within and outside the cooperative, and with all firms, organizations, consultants, and other groups as deemed necessary to carry out the responsibilities of the position.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITIES

  • Must possess high school diploma or equivalent.

  • Must be able to work well under stress.

  • Must have experience with GIS/Mapping.

  • Must have an understanding of construction practices.

  • Requires the ability and willingness to train others.

  • Assists in the collection of field data, preparation of easements, inspection of facilities, and the design for substation projects, transmission and distribution line projects, mapping or modeling projects, and other related or special projects.

  • Assists in implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures, standards, and work for the Engineering Services Department.

  • Assists in maintaining and updating system engineering records, construction records, and operating records, including but not limited to, maps, diagrams, reference material, equipment records, equipment settings, system computer models, construction progress reports, as-built drawings, substation and transformer data books, and inspection reports.

  • Must carry out the objectives of Carroll Electric Cooperative Corporation, operating within board policies, state and federal regulatory agency rules, and cooperative budgets to provide maximum service to the members of the cooperative.

  • Must safely operate Cooperative vehicles and equipment.

  • Frequently operates two-way radios.

  • Requires the ability to lift light and medium loads frequently, and heavy loads occasionally with assistance.

  • Requires the ability and willingness to work in a wide variety of environmental conditions.

  • Requires the willingness to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality with employee and member information.

  • Requires the ability and willingness to create and maintain accurate reports and workspace.

  • Performs a wide variety of other duties as requested or required by the position.
